Kevin Mitchell’s Golden Balls

27.10.06 – You’ve heard of million dollar baby – now it’s million pound balls! Unbeaten hot shot Kevin Mitchell has insured his privates ahead of his Commonwealth Super-Featherweight title clash against Ghanaian hard-man George Ashie tomorrow night after watching tapes of his opponent’s previous fight.

“I put on a video of his recent clash with Scotsman Martin Watson up in Edinburgh and it made my eyes water just watching it, there were so many low blows,” said the 21-year-old Dagenham Destroyer Mitchell.

“Right from the off his punches were slipping below the belt, and he even had a point deducted by the referee because he was so dirty.

“I’ve got a son, Connor, already, but I want a big family so I was straight on the phone to sort out some insurance for my meat and two veg.

“My missus is going to be ringside tomorrow night, but it will be even more nerve-racking than usual for her because of Ashie’s reputation. I don’t know if she’ll be able to watch!

“I know I’ve got to get to him quick to prevent any funny business, and I’ll be looking to knock him out right from the start. And I can promise I won’t be making a balls up of the fight!”

Mitchell, who fights at Bethnal Green’s York Hall in a clash to be screened live on ITV4, isn’t the first celebrity to take out insurance on his body parts.

Lord of the Dance Michael Flatley’s legs are worth £25 million according to his policy, while comedian Ken Dodd had his gnashers valued at £4million.

Aussie fast bowler Merv Hughes insured his moustache for £200,000 and Bruce Springstein’s voice is worth a whopping $6 million.

Also on the card tomorrow night, Graham Earl takes on Angel Ramirez for the WBU lightweight title, while Tony Oakey, Paul Souter, Steven Bell, Tommy Saunders, Robin Deakin and Grant Skehill are all in action.
