Undefeated WBC number 28 super lightweight Cletus “The Hebrew Hammer” Seldin took his record to 16-0 and 1 NC with 13 KOs scoring a fifth round stoppage of Johnny Garcia (19-3-1, 11 Kos) in a scheduled ten at the Paramount Theatre in Huntington, NY on ESPN 2’s Friday Night Fights.

Seldin, 28, shook Garcia to his boots with a left hook in the fourth and hammered him for the final minute of the round.

Right hands had Garcia in big trouble in the fifth and the 32 year old was taking unanswered punishment when the fight was stopped at the 2 minutes 29 mark.

The popular 5’7 Seldin, a raw, hard punching local crowd pleaser, was having his eighth straight appearance at this venue and his 12th overall. He kept the up the WBC International Silver belt he picked up stopping Bayan Jargil (17-5-3, 1 NC, 11 KOs) in December.

Welterweights Raymond “Tito” Serrano (21-2, 9 Kos) and Jeremy Bryan (17-6, 7 Kos) exchanged knockdowns in a ten rounder which Serrano took by a majority decision.

Serrano was down near the bell to end the third and returned the favour in the fifth. Scores were 94-94 and 97-91, 96-92. My score 97-91 for Philadelphia’s Serrano.

New York’s Daniel “El Gallo” Gonzalez (8-0-1, 3 Kos) scored a six round decision over Puerto Rican Ken Alvarez (6-1-2, 3 Kos) at welterweight (both a fraction over super light limit).

Gonzalez was cut in the second but did not break stride as he punched out a convincing win by scores of 59-53 and 5-54 (twice). My score 59-53. Alvarez was down in the fourth and sixth stanzas.
