Bradley said Benavidez’s move toward heavyweight makes far less sense than a possible undisputed fight with Dmitry Bivol

Tim Bradley says David Benavidez has little chance of defeating Oleksandr Usyk if he moves up to heavyweight. Bradley questioned the idea after Benavidez’s cruiserweight title win and argued a fight with Dmitry Bivol makes far more sense right now.

Usyk returns this Saturday against Rico Verhoeven in Egypt for a defense of his WBC heavyweight title. Benavidez, meanwhile, is coming off his sixth-round stoppage win over Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez earlier this month to capture the WBA and WBO cruiserweight belts.

Turki Alalshikh has already spoken publicly about wanting to make a Usyk-Benavidez fight in the future, but Bradley does not see the matchup ending well for Benavidez.

“Usyk? Stop it. It’s okay to have dreams, it’s fine, you can dream, but if you feel that David Benavidez can beat Usyk, I will gladly take your money,” said Bradley on his YouTube channel.

Tim said that while discussing Benavidez potentially moving to heavyweight after his cruiserweight title win.

Benavidez revealed after the Ramirez fight that he weighed only 202 pounds on fight night, and many still expect him to return to 175 pounds for a possible undisputed clash with Dmitry Bivol later this year if Bivol defeats Michael Eifert on May 30.

Usyk has beaten much bigger heavyweights during his run at the top of the division, including Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Daniel Dubois. Benavidez has spoken before about eventually moving to heavyweight, but Bradley sounded convinced that taking on Usyk would be a step too far right now.

Bradley made it clear he believes that route makes far more sense for Benavidez than jumping in with Usyk.
