Bob Arum Says Top Rank “Didn’t Carry” Terence Crawford To Biggest Paydays

Arum admitted Crawford’s biggest achievements and financial success came after leaving Top Rank in 2021

Bob Arum says Top Rank helped build Terence Crawford into a star but admitted the company missed the most successful stretch of Crawford’s career after their 2021 split. Crawford later became undisputed welterweight champion, defeated Canelo Alvarez, and retired unbeaten following massive Riyadh Season events.

Arum reflected on Crawford’s run this week and acknowledged that Top Rank helped build him into a star, but ultimately was not involved in the final stage of his career.

The biggest stretch of Crawford’s career happened afterward. He stopped Errol Spence Jr. to become undisputed welterweight champion in 2023, moved into the Riyadh Season orbit, defeated Israil Madrimov at junior middleweight, and later beat Canelo Alvarez in one of the sport’s biggest events before retiring.

Crawford went on to become undisputed welterweight champion, headline Riyadh Season events, and defeat Canelo Alvarez before retiring in December 2025. Crawford also became a four-division world champion and finished his career unbeaten after nearly two decades as a professional prizefighter in boxing.
