Carl Froch says he fears no man, talks possibility of facing Gennady Golovkin, Chavez Junior

froch1111 IBF/WBA super-middleweight king Carl Froch is confident he will defeat unbeaten George Groves in the all-British showdown set for November 23rd; with “The Cobra” believing he will get the job done inside the distance. And the 36-year-old is already eyeing an even bigger fight for himself, to take place in Las Vegas.

Speaking with U.K tabloid The Sun, Froch revealed how his promoter Eddie Hearn has been talking to HBO about him facing either Julio Cesar Chavez or Gennady Golovkin.

“It’s potentially one of the biggest fights to happen in the last decade,” Froch said of his possible fight with Chavez Junior or Golovkin.

Abel Sanchez, the trainer for WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, thinks that Golovkin should be in the running for a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and/or Miguel Cotto. Golovkin has a fight next month on November 2nd against contender Curtis Stevens, but Sanchez figures that’ll be an easy fight for Golovkin.

Once Stevens is out of the way, Sanchez wants Golovkin to face Mayweather or Cotto. He believes that Golovkin can down to 154 to face either of them as long as he has a full 8 week training camp to trim down.

Sanchez said to RingTV “Gennedy came into camp weighing 167 before training, so it would be just a matter of getting enough time to get down to 154…we would start losing some of the weight that we have to earlier…it’s just a matter of having the time to do it.”

At the Manhattan Beach Marriott on Saturday, Golovkin and Perez along with K2 Promotions’ Tom Loeffler and their trainer Abel Sanchez discussed their November 2 fights in New York City and future plans in front of a massive turnout of area media.

Also joining them at the media lunch was undefeated cruiserweight Isa Akberbayev who will be fighting on the undercard at the November 2 event.

golovkin433 Before I get started I just want to say that the Mayweather/Canelo fight is a unanimous decision victory for Floyd regardless of CJ Ross’ inept scoring. By now everyone is wondering who Floyd will fight next in May of 2014. Cinco De Mayo is a traditional Mexican holiday that Floyd on several occasions has chosen to fight on, and has fought non-Mexicans on that date. Fans can expect an undercard loaded with Mexican fighters if Floyd elects to fight a non-Mexican on that date. Floyd could also elect to fight on another May 2014 date all-together.

Of the names that Floyd could be expected fight a few will peak fans interest and these are:
Danny Garcia – Matthysee will enforce his rematch clause. But does anybody believe that Garcia can beat Mayweather? NO!

I love his confidence, and I think you have to respect a young lion in the sport who feels strong enough about his talent to not only call out the biggest star in his realm, but actually go forward with the plans to take him out. Golovkin’s promoters at K2 are interested in matching him against Britain’s Martin Murray, but that fight likely won’t happen.

If Murray can’t take the fight, then the 28-year-old Stevens could be the guy that faces Golovkin in a fight that will likely be televised by HBO unless they turn down the fight.

When we look at the entire history of Mayweather, we see a man who has had a very storied career that has seen him dominate from a very early stage. Even prior to the professional ranks, you have to consider that there was an Olympic Bronze that would have been a Gold had it not been for a poor decision. From day one, this has been a fighter who has proven himself at every level.
