Danny Garcia vs. Lucas Matthysse predictions

02(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) LAS VEGAS (Sept. 12, 2013) – In what is being called its own main event, the Unified Super Lightweight World Championship mega-fight between Danny “Swift” Garcia and Lucas “The Machine” Matthysse has boxing fans and media scratching their heads. The task of choosing between Matthysse’s power and Garcia’s boxing IQ has proven to be a difficult one, even for the most knowledgeable boxing enthusiasts. While Matthysse has a slight edge amongst the sweet science experts listed below, this potential ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate could certainly go either way.

One thing is for sure, when these two warriors step into the ring at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas this Saturdaynight live on SHOWTIME PPV (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT), they are going to get the crowd out of their seats and ready for the Mayweather vs. Canelo main event super fight.

IMG_6323When the Junior Welterweight super-fight between Philly native Danny Garcia and hard punching Argentine Lucas Matthysse was initially announced as the co-main event for “The One” PPV spectacular on September 14th, fight fans around the world had one more reason to celebrate.

Mayweather-Canelo, Garcia-Matthysse predictions for Saturday’s massive night of boxing!

01 (2)(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) It could be said that the form book will very much be obeyed on Saturday night in Las Vegas, that the expected fighters will emerge victorious and that all fight fans who pointed out the obvious before it went down will be made to look like know-it-alls as a result. Indeed, most people think Floyd Mayweather will out-point Canelo Alvarez, that Lucas Matthysse will have too much power for Danny Garcia and that there will, by and large, be no shocks inside a buzzing MGM Grand.

Still, as great a night as September 14th promises to be, it would be amiss not to write a pre-fight predictions piece – and there is the intriguing undercard action to look at (arguably the two toughest bouts to call being Ishe Smith-Carlos Molina and Ashley Theophane-Pablo Cano).

Left-Hook Lounge Mailbag: Mayweather/Canelo “All Access” Ep.2, Garcia/Matthysse, & Canelo Weight: Penalty or Remedy?

MayweatherWorkout__StephanieTrapp_KR6A3391Kerri I. (Cincinnati, OH): Last week, you pointed out a few things from the first episode of Mayweather/Canelo “ALL ACCESS” that you felt gave insight on how the bout may end. What did you take from this weeks Episode 2?

Vivek W. (ESB): I’ve watched the initial two installments of “All Access” probably 6 or 7 times now. There were certain things that stood out in the first episode. But in this second episode there was one piece that continued to resonate with me well after it finished each time…..almost as a prelude of what’s surely destined to come. In a funny irony, leading into the Mayweather vs Ortiz showdown, I remember stating that of all the things I heard Mayweather say, the words “If you make a mistake, you have to pay” rang loud and clear, more so than any others. On fight night, it was those very words that embodied the final storyline and all subsequent headlines that went to press the next morning all over the globe!
