(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) thinks he has it all figured out how to defeat Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) in their rematch coming up next month on September 13th. Maidana believes that the key to cracking the MayVinci code is to put him under so much pressure that he’ll eventually either get stopped by one of Maidana’s storm of power shots or he’ll get outworked and lose a decision.
To be sure, Maidana came close to beating Mayweather last May when he lost a 12 round majority decision to him at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. With a little better stamina in the last 7 rounds of the fight, Maidana might have pulled off the biggest upset in 2014. But Maidana ended up fading the last half of the fight and ruining his chances for success based on his poor conditioning.
