@Py, exactly! I wonder why these writers don’t post follow-up articles/comments after Floyd proves them wrong every time. Im sure they would have if he lost.

Who looks silly now!

Mayweather has made a career of not getting hit with sheer defensive brilliance….He is not ring worn and even if he has lost a step he is still quicker by hand and foot than Guererro.
In saying that, Mayweather is still inside the ring and his 0 is at risk. One good shot can still end a fight.
Doubtful though…..

All the talk about Floyd aging might be true if it was an average fighter. By fighting once ayear means Floyd has less wear and tear than a regular 36 yo fighter. But that’s not even the problem for Guerrero. The real problem is Mayweather’s better at anything Guerrero can come up with. He’ meaner, stronger, in better condition and more skilled. Guerrero likes to bully fighters but he’s in for a huge surprise like most who fought Mayweather. When they get shook by that precision right hand they decide it’s better to survive the fight than be humiliated. They all end up like the deer in the headlights acting confused and out of their element. That’s what you can expect from Robert too!

Agreed. People fail to realize that Mayweather is different from RJJ and Whitaker in a lot of ways. Unlike RJJ and Whitaker, Mayweather’s defense doesnt simply rely on speed. Once the reflexes slowed down, RJJ and Whitaker saw a very quick decline in performance. Mayweather can slip, roll, or block punches, and he’s more efficient in the ring than RJJ or Whitaker. Mayweather for the most part is choosing to be more aggressive in the ring and fight in a more engaging style. RJJ and Whitaker didnt have a choice…their ability to slip punches declined and they began to lose fights.

Mayweather’s movement in the ring has seen a decline, to the point where he is having to roll more punches and is getting hit more often. BUT, Mayweather’s inside game is better than many give him credit for. We saw it against Judah, Hatton, Cotto, and we’ll see it again against Guerrero.

Mayweather WILL stop Guerrero.

All those guys he mentioned are very capable of beating him and he isn’t getting any better and is on the decline unless of course the “fix is in”!

Dino from Youngstown, Ohio.

I think we have have not yet seen Mayweather stand toe to toe and dig real deep, he never had to because of his great talent. When he fight the G-man, you will see Mayweather reach down like true Champs do and win this fight.

Mayweather still has great boxing knowledge and good boxing ability. Yes he is aging . And if he chose austin trout a big fast guy .I belive floyds age would show . But again maywether has chose to face x feather weight guerrero . a good smaller slower fighter ,that mayweather has a much better chance of out sizing and out boxing . Also the ref will never allow guerrero to get away with the tactics on floyd that he guerrero used to beat berto. So where is any advatage to guerrero . great business move floyd avoiding trout

Havoc- Good point. People are expecting Floyd to get old in a fight like Roy did, but Floyd is more technical than Roy ever was, he trains like an animal and we know he can take a shot. So Floyd might be around for a long long time and still be a tough tough out ala Hopkins.

I agree sirminimo! Plus Floyd has an excellent defense that alone won’t change even if he is 50…Guerrero will be punching all day and will not connect…

Here’s the sad thing for Guerrero: He’s absolutely right, but even an older, slower, coming out of jail Mayweather is 10 times better than anything he’s ever faced and will beat him handily. Pretty bad and inaccurate article, btw.

All this chatter, EVERYONES workrate goes DOWN when they face the GREATEST counterpuncher in boxing… Yeah Guerrero can throw and throw with Berto who despite landing some eyecatching shots of his own is not the technical beast FMJ is… Robert will learn QUICK that if he throws 100 punches per round his eyes will swell FASTER than they did against the quickhanded but far less skilled Berto… Floyds the ultimate ring general, if “work rate” was all it took to beat him he would have lost LONG ago because he used to win bouts throwing even FEWER punches than he does now….

Mayweather will outclass this bum, he’s not even in the same weight division!

Posted February 25, 2013 9:53 am

true but like he says if he doesn’t stay on his toes he will struggle to match Guerrero’s work rate that’s a valid point, floyd will have to out land or out work, his toughest fight in a while.

Ohhhhhhhh Jesus this writer is a RANK amateur… Mayweather fights as well in the pocket as he does on his toes the reality is Guerrero is more likely to get knocked out now than he was 4 or 5 years ago because Floyd is meaner in the ring and he will be the stronger fighter…. I hope Guerrero comes rushing in like Don Quioxte and gets blasted for his trouble…
