I love how Anonymous, Roots, Proud African and the other BET-watchin afro-centrists from the FMJ fan-boy club keep calling us Latinos “white boys.” LOL! Hate the white man, blame the white man… the story never changes with these fools. And most are too myopic to even identify their real nemesis that’s been standing right before their faces in the boxing ring every weekend for at least 30 years. LOL! Truth is few white boys in America still follow boxing these days, and even fewer care enough to argue about it on ESB everyday. Most of those dudes are following MMA and other sports. In reality, most of the white breds on ESB are from across the pond, and it’s easy to tell by how they talk different. Watcha gonna do… hate on and blame them Europeans for all your problems in America and shortcomings in life? No need for responses, just let it sink in and marinate for a few weeks. Opening eyes it what I do best…. you can thank me later, my brothas.

Duran-You may not know this but Castillo had his chance to SHOW that he got robbed in a rematch but he couldn’t DO it. Take notes from Marquez. He got robbed and he SHOWED that he got robbed by knocking Pacquiao out.

Posted February 21, 2013 2:35 pm

“where a lessor talent could overpower him”- Well its a GOOD thing that overpowering someone doesn’t WIN most of the time. Over SKILLING them WINS most of the time. Or else Abraham would have WON vs Ward and Malignaggi would be WINLESS.

“He so deathly afraid of losing his precious O” – That he has proceeded to beat 9 CHAMPS in
his last 10 Fights WOW!! And he also is about to defeat 4 Top 10 P4P Fighters in his last 6. Double WOW!! NO ONE in the ENTIRE History of Civilization can match it!!

Posted February 21, 2013 2:28 pm

“C’mon…everyone in America and Europe knows that Mayflower would NEVER risk his O by getting in the ring with Triple G” – Why wouldn’t he??? He’s already risking it vs Guerrero who is ranked HIGHER than Golovkin. People don’t want to see the Top P4P Fighter continue to face #0 P4P opposition.

Posted February 21, 2013 2:23 pm

“Floyd has protected his 0 by doing what exactly?” As little as possible, mostly.

Posted February 21, 2013 1:37 pm

Mayweathers latest opponent is a 3 or 4 weight World Champion who like Floyd came up from the lower ranks and bagged some action at 147, Guerrero is PRIME 29 years old and a Southpaw!!! Isn’t the thesis that these guys are supposed to be able to deal with FMJ easily? BUT already the naysayers are getting ansy because they are not confident that Guerrero can end their nightmare and get Floyd outta there even though the man is 36…!

Posted February 21, 2013 9:49 am

Floyd has protected his 0 by doing what exactly? Lets take a look!! In his last 6 fights he faced 4 Hall of Famers, Oscar who was then Champ, Marquez ATG and 3 weight World Champ who later almost killed Pacquiao and was NEVER embarassed the way FMJ did it, Cotto who is a 3 weight World Champion and was the bigger, younger man the night they fought, Mosley a 3 weight Champ I believe who was coming off his BIGGEST win a bruising KO of Margarito…. Ricky Hatton who was a 2 weight Champ, lineal at 140 and undefeated when Mayweather knocked him out and helped turn him into a coke sniffing cry baby..Ortiz 10 years younger, a southpaw!!! supposedly Mayweathers achilles heel… I know, I know this is the WORST lineup EVER but what were the records of these fighters collectively? 243-17-3 and ALL had been World Champions… FMJ he is EASILY one of th BEST to ever do it…

Posted February 21, 2013 9:45 am

Lion King, is that your genius plot to get a SMALL WW in the ring with a MW like Golovkin or Martinez??? The motives are transparent and the bar would just be moved AGAIN anyway… As we all know Mayweather started at 130 pounds and he has fought a couple other former WW’s (ODH and Cotto) at 154 pounds which is really not his best weight (he could make 147 doing same day weigh in, he was at 149 30 days out when he was about to fight Ortiz I believe…This idea that is guys in your relevant weight class cannot defeat you, the onus is on the boxer to keep facing bigger people till he loses so that his detractors can say “see he is a fake” this is a perversion of boxing etiquette where weight classes are there for a reason… Floyd would be an idiot to put himself in a position where a lessor talent could overpower him due to sheer body mass..

Posted February 21, 2013 9:35 am

A lot of floyd nut hugging going on,guess ppl still under the big delusion till he gets done pacquiao style lol.

Posted February 21, 2013 6:23 am

Check out Chicago Nutcase. He must have escaped from a mental institution. Dude had a major mental breakdown, after Pacquiao was KTFO. But then again Chicago was never mentally stable to begin with. Can’t believe the idiot is back with his same stupid posts after all that. Some people are just oblivious to their stupidity.

“In my opinion p4p means that you fear no one and duck no one”-And I THANK you for admitting to your AMATEURISM. IF P4P meant that you fear no one and duck no one then Zab Judah would be P4P and SO would James Toney. P4P means that you are the BEST in the Sport. What YOU perceive as fear and ducking is no factor in that.

And what do YOU mean what does P4P mean?? It means that you are one of the Top 10 Boxers in the World regardless of weight class according to the EXPERTS. THAT’S what it means.

Posted February 20, 2013 9:47 pm

No. Trout would not WIN easy. He couldn’t even beat Cotto easy who is LESSER than Guerrero right now. The EXPERTS agree with ME on that. Guerrero’s Boxing IQ is under rated. Its BETTER than Cotto’s who can’t seem to strategize.

Posted February 20, 2013 9:14 pm

boxtrad If trout fought guerro trout would win easy. And the reason I dont belive in that pd for pd bs is because what does it mean? if donaire grew 15 inches and put on 100 lbs he would beat klitchko /guess what boxtrad donniare or mayweather or guerro calzagghi arent going to grow no more. and if they did, they would lose cordination and speed and fight like heavyweights so that pd4 for pd is bs and with all of your so called expertise you dont realize that

Posted February 20, 2013 7:27 pm

Where does ANY Fighter have anything to go on vs Mayweather??? MY advice for Guerrero is to abandon his trash talking and himself a Strength Coach to get himself some knockout Power. Also get a Defensive Boxing Coach who can teach you some head movement. Come in on Fight night and swing for the fenses. Its your BEST shot.

Posted February 20, 2013 6:28 pm

sean-Trout wouldn’t be a harder Fight for Mayweather. It’d be a harder Fight for the FANS. Trout would try to out Chess the Chess MASTER and get CHECKMATED for the NON entertaining UD. At least Guerrero is coming to Fight and will force Mayweather to Fight. Trout would be coming to Box which Mayweather can DO in his sleep. Guerrero is the BETTER Fighter at THIS time and the EXPERTS agree with ME on that. Of course you don’t care about P4P because you’re an AMATEUR.

Posted February 20, 2013 6:06 pm

i for one am ready for the fight, don’t really care who he fights first or last, in the position he’s in, he can only fight top competition so it doesn’t matter

Posted February 20, 2013 5:56 pm

in the guerro berto fight they let guerro get away with butting holding and hitting and many fouls whiched helped the rough and tumble style or dirty fighting style what ever you want to call it guerro way of fighting . with moneymayweather I assure you none of guerros tactics will allowed by ref this time. and now where does lb for lb fighter guerro have any ting to go on

Posted February 20, 2013 5:46 pm

boxtradamus its you who should learn boxing if you think guerro would be a harder fight for maywether then trout would be . I dont care about who is lb for lb rated or not . most of gurreo rating come from the fights he had below welter weight limit . barring the berto fight. I admire guerros courage and detemination, but fact is he was once a feather weight coming up to fight mayweather he is tough and will give his all in this fight but he limited not a big puncher, not very fast, ad from what I seen of him he fights on the inside mayweathers strength. mayweather will have every advntage over guerro in this fight and mayweather knows it . but I am still happy for guerro to get a big pay day . as far as trout hes a jr middle weight lefty who is slick and fast he is bigger then mayweather moves in and out and mayweather would have a hard time with trout . who do you think would have been tougher on cotto trout or guerro ?/but funny mayweather always sems to make a point of avoiding guys like trout a prime paul williams prime cotto margrito instead facing the smaller ricky hatton or non roid marquez

Posted February 20, 2013 5:29 pm

we also have to understand that when you make that much money, taxes will eat you up if you fight too often…..also as far as GOAT status it would be hard for Ali to win titles in so many divisions since he was already a hvwt…..

Posted February 20, 2013 5:20 pm

Hidalgo also says…”But when Mayweather does-and it’s a #10 at that-it’s a great thing?”- Nope. It’s a GOAT thing. Not many Fighters in the ENTIRE History of Boxing has faced 4 of the Top 10 P4P Fighters in the World in their last 6 Fights. But Floyd will. WOW!! His consistent HIGH level of opposition is UNMATCHED in the History of Boxing. WOW.

Posted February 20, 2013 4:55 pm

there’s only so many p4p you can fight and they are not all in the same weight class
as long as a fighter fights in or around his weight (without going to high up) there should be no argument as to his greatness

Posted February 20, 2013 4:48 pm

san-Canelo and Trout are both #0 P4P. Guerrero is #10 P4P. SO Guerrero is the tougher Fight. Please learn more about Boxing.

Hidalgo says…”So when any other top tier fighter fights less than a top 5 P4P opponent he ain’t so hot-according to you.”-YES. When you’re Top 5 P4P and won’t face fellow Top 5 P4P Fighters in your weight range (within 20 lbs) thats WEAK. Floyd gets an exception HERE as he has already BLITZED the Top rated P4P Fighter in his weight range. He also just SPANKED Mosley when HE was #3 P4P. …When Pacquiao was #1 P4P he flat out REFUSED to face any Top 5 P4P Fighters in his weight range until he MANNED UP and faced Marquez and thats when the shine got knocked OFF the FALSE Golden Goose. YOU can just Wikipedia Pacquiao vs Mosley and see for YOURSELF that Pacquiao refused to face Mosley until he was removed from the Top 5 P4P. When the #1 P4P Fighter in the World skips over Top 10 P4P rated Fighters in his weight range for #0 rated Fighter 3 times in a row it becomes a FARCE. Thats why Floyd went ahead and took the Fight vs #10 P4P Guerrero.

Sheesh the dumb commentary never ceases, “the Klits can beat Mayweather” thats mighty impressive considering their 100 pound weight advantage… Trout is the name du jour before he fought Cotto who Mayweather beat in the fight prior no one was even discussing him NOW he is the man???… The Klitschkos between them have NEVER beat a HOF level fighter… Mayweather must have defeated 5 of them in his career…Who was Wlad in the ring with last? a washed up OLD fighter he already knocked out or how about Wach a guy who was not even a world class fighter… Vitali was last seen facing an unranked fighter with no game Charr….. Mayweather fights on a different tier than the Klits who have mostly faced fodder

Posted February 20, 2013 4:16 pm

hey anomymous talking about us white boys wish we had a fighter like mayweather thats not true the klitchkos are white and with one swat they send that little midget mayweather reeling . remember the reason midget mayweather holds any title is because he knows how to duck fights like trout all thru his career and some one along time ago made weigs for small guys knowing they couldnt compete with the big guys so as far as race goes the heavyweight title is the thing

Posted February 20, 2013 3:52 pm

Here come the excuse makers left and right, how tolerant should Cortez have been when Ortiz pile drived Mayweather with his head like a psycho… Guerrero can try those tatics with FMJ and he wll get knocked out… Berto has NO clear indentity in the ring anymore hence him trying to emulate his pal Broner and getting dropped in the first round…. Berto gets drawn into slugfests (Ortiz and Guerrero) Floyd Mayweather is the TOP Ring General in boxing nothing goes on that he is not onboard with…. If Guerrero tries to live la vida loca, he will be getting his skull iced by that wife of his…

Hidalgo says…”But when Floyd does-and it’s a #10 at that-it’s a great thing”- Nope. Its a GOAT thing. Floyd took a whole year OFF and is jumping right back in with the #10 Fighter in the ENTIRE Sport . Yet he’s SO GREAT that the more active Fighter is given NO chance vs the “Lazy Boxer” thats called GOATNESS… On the other hand you have Bradley who is coming back vs a #0 P4P Fighter but doesnt get much criticism because he’s not Mayweather and therefore not much is expected of him.

Posted February 20, 2013 3:37 pm

Rapid-Golovkin had better take a BODY punching class IF he wants to have ANY chance vs Mayweather. Rosado had Golovkin looking swinging and missing like a Rank AMATEUR last time I saw him.

Only The Truth-YOUR memory is distinctly POOR. Why would I SAY that the largest TV network on the Planet is second rate?? No. I SAID that Manny was using the largest media platform in the World in a very POOR manner which would end up HURTING the Sport more than doing it any GOOD as most would leave with a SOUR taste in their mouth from watching a MISMATCH and I was CORRECT. …ALL anyone talked about was how much of a MISMATCH the Fight was after the bout just as I predicted. Instead of using the opportunity to show how GREAT this Sport is by putting on a competitive match vs. a Top 10 P4P opponent, Manny was at the time the #1 P4P Fighter in the World and showcased a Fight vs. a #0 P4P NON CHAMP named Mosley when he COULD have been facing Top 5 P4P Marquez in a competitive match….What a TERRIBLE way to use the opportunity!! And THAT is what I was saying. SO get your story straight you senseless SISSYFIED sucker…What does molesting little boys have to DO with Boxing?? Your mind is a bit twisted. We talk about Boxing HERE. I back the TRUTH and the FACTS about Boxing and I will CONTINUE to DO it.

HBO is probably saving their money for Broner. If Broner takes on top competition, he can break the bank. Floyd’s a boring fighter while Broner goes after his man. I doubt Broner would be afraid to take on Pacquiao, like the other guy. Now that would be a fight!!!!

Posted February 20, 2013 3:01 pm

To have any chance, Guerrero’s camp has to ensure they get a tolerant ref…otherwise, we’re in for a bore…or a disqualification. If he gets the Berto ref, Floyd’s in for a loooong night! But Floyd’s camp is the best in the business. I guarantee he gets the ref he wants.

Other boxers are employees, Mayweather is the employer!! Schaefer and Co won’t say a DAMN thing to disparage Mayweather he could gun down a village and they would stand by him because HE is the boss…. FMJ has laid down the template for other boxers to begin running their own show and creating marketable persona’s that are independent of the Top Ranks and GBP’s of the world.. Other fighters fight when told and they fight who they are told to fight whereas Floyd has the whole sport bent over due to his talent and appeal (4 million Twitter followers) and millions of fans…. My hats off in a business where athletes get screwed WORSE than any other, Floyd is doing the screwing!!! Kudos!

Posted February 20, 2013 1:59 pm

Hidalgo, Floyd Mayweather does not have to fight like lessor boxers because he is the TOP earner, he is not beholden to promotional company that plays him like a puppet… If he is SOOOOO lazy then why is he not sitting there knocked out or losing making excuses about ring rust, layoffs depression and all the other nonsense… Floyd has had MORE fights that SRL who is considered one of the best ever and Ray truly retired after Camacho beat him down at the age of 40 years old…Mayweather fights in MEGA events he fights ONLY HOFER’s, multidivision Champs, and standing beltholders this does NOT allow for a schedule fighting alot of the fodder around to take stay busy bouts…. When Floyd puts on the gloves its an event, and he is either fighting for a World Title or facing a guy with real credentials in the sport….More is NOT always better and if he were not the most dedicated boxer alive he would have paid for his layoffs…

Posted February 20, 2013 1:53 pm

What are the names of these boxers he allegedly ducked? Just curious.

Posted February 20, 2013 1:47 pm

“Mayweather is the FARTHEST thing from a lazy boxer.” Yes he is SRedmond and his boxing record proves it. In the last nine years Floyd has had 12 fights. 12 fights in nine years by a boxer who rarely gets hurt by his opponents. Mayweather is as lazy as they come. He fights once in a while and everyone knows it.

Posted February 20, 2013 1:15 pm

Floyd gave Castillo a rematch immediately which he won going away AGAIN this piece of business is simply an antiquated tool used by the haters because in comparison none of Floyds fights are close…Just because damn good fighters cannot make Mayweather struggle thats not his fault…All top dogs experience this phenomenon when is the last time that FMJ got in the ring with a fighter no one had heard of? or a guy that did not have a belt? or a guy that was a former world Champ? or a guy NOT bound for the HOF… Out of Mayweathers last 6 opponents at least 4 are going to the HOF Cotto, Mosley, Marquez, ODH and the rest all had belts Ortiz, Hatton… Look at the relative trash Vitali Klits has been fighting? Best name in years was a Cruiser who has struggled at HW despite a big heart (Adamek)

Posted February 20, 2013 1:02 pm

as far as the castillo fight, it was close but I’ve never heard castillo complaining,,,he took it in stride like a pro and that was it

Posted February 20, 2013 12:51 pm

Everyone is going to be “boring” in the ring with Floyd because he SHUTS you down… He is not Arturo Gatti, taking 7 punches to land 3 he takes 1 to land 15 and his opponents enter the ring as decorated professional fighters and leave looking like they should try out for a soccer team or something other than a combat sport….NO fighter has Floyds combo of athletic talent, boxing IQ, and discipline inside the ring he is the ultimate slickster… Those wishing for Rocky stories or John Voight in the Champ had better look elsewhere, only thing chasing Floyd is father time because he has been unstoppable for 16 years… The BIGGEST standing riddle in boxing… We have seen Pac lose to Morales, Marquez to Pac, hit the canvas against Katsidis but FMJ is barely scratched.. Haters wanted to give Cotto a parade and name a street after him because he gave a fighter a bloody nose… This fighter is a BEAST!

Posted February 20, 2013 12:49 pm

Boring this is like Floyd fighting Clottey, Margarito or Bradley.

Fraudie can’t cement his boxing legacy and never will be. Everybody knows that he ducked all tougher oppositions during his prime. Now he is already old the question how he can cement his legacy. Still he will avoid to fight a risky opponet that he can’t win. He switch to sho-cbs because all good fights are carried by HBO. Fraudie will cement his pocket by fighting weaker opponent to win. No boxing legacy for him at all.Pacquiao accepted all the challenged win or lose but Fraudie doesn’t.

Posted February 20, 2013 12:39 pm

He’s not going to make the mistake many have made by going too high above their weight,
so like him or not, he makes his own decisions, and he’ll fight whoever deserves a shot. enjoy his fights now cause time gets the best of us all…..either root for him or against him
but , we’re all going to watch his fights anyway. one thing is sure, he’s taken the power away from some of these selfish promoters that have ruined the sport with their greed.

Posted February 20, 2013 12:35 pm

Duran, is an open Bigot and thus his opinion counts for less than nothing lets get real… Anyone still dredging up Castillo and the two losses he booked against FMJ needs to recognize its 2013 and the unprecedented dominance has continued…Since Castillo Floyd has been Champ in 3 other divisions, become the face of boxing, had the BIGGEST fight in its history and made over 100 million dollars and remained undefeated… Castillo was not and is not the answer to the haters pain the Mayweather train just keeps on rolling

Posted February 20, 2013 12:04 pm

You have no substance to your claim Duran. The Mayweather vs Castillo fight was close and could of gone either way. I thought Pac one but there is no denying that Pac only fought 30 seconds of most of the rounds. Hard to win a fight that way and most of the punches he was credited for didn’t land. And to say they where trying to create something with cloud is a dumb statement. When is the last time you saw him fight more than once in a year and a half? They aren’t trying to create anything with cloud. And yes Campillo got robbed. Difference with Floy and Castillo was that Floyd came back for an immediate rematch.

Posted February 20, 2013 11:56 am

Another East Side Bigot, pissed off at the incomprable success of Floyd Mayweather are we really gonna still hang on the the Castillo fight like a washed up High School Quarterback reliving the glory days while he pumps gas? Lets think about what happened since Floyd beat Castillo TWICE, he has won maybe 16 or so more bouts, he has gotten belts in 3 more divisions he has defeated HOFERS like ODH, Mosley, Marquez and Cotto he has become the Highest Paid athlete in the world and only had to work 2 nights to earn that 85mil….If Castillo is the consolation for the HATERS its a poor comparison to the way Floyd has taken over boxing…. Thats one SMART dude! :)

Posted February 20, 2013 11:33 am

6 fights in 2 and a half years?? That’s about 4 fights more than Floyd normally manages

Posted February 20, 2013 11:15 am

Floyd won almost every round against Cotto. Yeah Cotto made it competitive but that doesn’t mean Floyd didn’t win convincingly. You are way off on that. And having a bloody nose means nothing. It’s boxing and your gonna get hit. Heck Cotto busted Pacs ear drum which is worse than a bloody nose

Floydie is getting old can’t give a good fight since then. Now, what do we expect from him nothing. His 6 fights ccontract to Sho-CBS are just to make money until he retires. All those fights will be fix for him to win.

Posted February 20, 2013 9:12 am

He beat Cotto convincingly. A few years ago like before Margarito #1 I’d have gone with Cotto. He probably moved to SHO so that when he fights Paciou both networks will ahev to battle it out and wind up with much higher PPV numbers.

Posted February 20, 2013 8:30 am

Good for Floyd with his 6 fight deal. I would like to see him start with Guerrero, Bradley (providing he gets past Provodnikov), Pacquiao. That would tie up a year and a half, so it’s hard to predict who he should fight by then, as tha landscape of Boxing can change drastically in that time. I don’t see the need for Floyd to move up to fight those bigger guys as they have enough business of their own in fighting each other instead of calling out the smaller Floyd. I too think it would be quite interesting to see Floyd vs the Canelo/Trout winner, but I don’t see it as a necessary fight for Floyd.

Posted February 20, 2013 6:44 am

Totally agree Floyds a WW fighter and that’s just the truth of it…He will likely do a big fight with Alvarez but the idea he needs to wait till he is old and hooks talents are being slowly eroded by time to fight a MW is crazy.. He should fight within his division face the beat he can and retire… Who cares if spiteful so called fans want to get him in the ring with someone big enough to overpower him, Floyds far from a MW…

Posted February 20, 2013 5:23 am

David thats what bugs me aabout thse writers – floyd won almost all the rounds against Cotto and was caught with some few stiff jabs and body shots….barely means a close ifght and Floyd dominated and beat the crap out of him and nearly stoped him too

And that is another reason he should not fight Martinez or GGG at 154, because if Floyd won then there would always be that excuse, well they where weight drained. Why not tell Martinez to step up and fight the real fighters in his division like GGG

Posted February 20, 2013 1:54 am

Well if you have followed Floyds career you will see he is already fighting guys that are a weeee bit larger than him. He fought Cotto at 154 and he weighed in at 147. I would say Cotto was a bit bigger than him, he fought Oscar, I would say he was a bit bigger than him. When Floyd got out of jail he weighed 140. Roger has already said that Floyd is a natural 140 pounder and he is beating 147 and 154 pounders. I would say he is fighting fighters that are bigger than him. Now I am not a fan of the Guerrero fight but saying Guerrero is to small is dumb considering the bigger guys had to fight Floyd when he was moving up. Nobody was saying anything about them fighting Floyd or picking on the little guys

Sredmond….GGG would not be a dumb fight, Genady said he come down to 54 or lower just like Martinez said…. Floyds had two fights at 54, and has shown he can compete.. so WTF is the problem?? I mean, those guys would probably be Weight drained if the came down to 54 giving the advantage on paper to Floyd…I just don’t see the big deal.. I didn’t hear you saying he shouldn’t fight Cotto at 54, or anyone complaining when he fought many years ago??

Posted February 20, 2013 1:46 am

SREDMOND….”this is not Leonard in his later years” You are right on about that! Ray was retired for what 2 years?? Comes back, and fights the undisputed middle weight champ in Marvin Hagler…. Floyd goes to Jail,..comes back a year later and fights Guerrero….You nailed that one to the tee!! We finally agree on something.

Because Mayweathers most recent fight was at 154 lbs and the last time I checked he’s still calling himself the WBA Super & WBC Diamond Light Middleweight Champion. Plus he still calls himself a five-division world champion and is ranked as the #1 Jr. WW. Have we really entered an era in boxing wherein the top champions are no longer expected to defend the titles they hold and brag about? Are you really claiming that he’s too OLD to fight Golovkin? Triple G has formally called out FMJ at 154 lbs, so I fully expect him to defend it against top guys like GGG and the winner of Canelo vs. Trout — even if they are a few lbs larger. If FMJ truly is one of the greatest ever, as his fan boys always claim, he should be able to outbox guys a wee bit larger, right? Otherwise Floyd should vacate it or be stripped and go back to calling himself a four-division world champion. Word!

Posted February 20, 2013 1:34 am

As great as Mayweather is and has been, this fight still isn’t as exciting as other fights he could have taken. I’m disappointed but if he really does have to fight 6 times then we should see soem good fights in there. Mind you the Guerrero fight is a good fight on paper… but FLoyd is soo good, we expect more from him, especially when he holds the p4p no.1 ranking…. so Guerrero is a good fighter but we are looking for something more challenging….. that being said, I doubt Floyd fights 6 times in 30 months.. there has to be a loophole or out in that contract, For Floyd fighting on showtime, hey can’t knock that…. good for him with the deal

How the hell does Mayweather belong fighting Golovkin at 36 years old?? That’s a DUMB fight hoping a MUCH bigger brute lands a haymaker on a smaller fighter… You don’t like Floyd so you keep upping the ante trying to invalidate his career… FMJ has no business at 160 and he’s not stupid enough to try it… He’s a WW at this point period…

Guerrero will make Mayweather fight, and if May doesn’t fight he’ll lose.

If Mayweather fought and beat the bigger and stonger, yet green, Alvarez, fans would want him to fight Martinez, and no one else. If he beat him, they would want him to face the much bigger GGG, and no one else. Mayweather should fight at WW, from here on out, he’s not even a natural welter.

Posted February 20, 2013 12:19 am

I like the way folks actually say if Mayweather actually fought this guy, that guy and this guy then I would be a fan. Problem is they are naming fighters that fight at 160 lbs. Folks you do realize there are weight divisions in boxing. I mean while you are at it might as well through Andre Ward, and the Klitchkos. If you don’t like Floyd fine that is cool but his record speaks for itselt and moving up another 2 weight classes when he is a legit 147 pounder is crazy. And yes I know pretty much everybody at 160 can make 154 like they all claim but has yet to fight at 154 since being at 160.

Posted February 19, 2013 11:37 pm

Now a two-division champ, Broner moves up to 135, immediately fights the top dog and while doing so makes the champ/DeMarco look like a rookie, yet he hasn’t fought anyone yet. Good one. LOL

Posted February 19, 2013 11:06 pm

HBO is not hurting because they still have PACMAN AND ADRIEN BRONNER; LMAO…That’s FUNNY. NEWSFLASH….Pacman is on a DOWNSLIDE; do your recall him needing SMELLING SALTS just to wake up from that CAT NAP Marquez served him; and Bronner is still QUESTIONABLE. He hasn’t really fought ANYONE YET!!!!!

Posted February 19, 2013 10:57 pm

So! If Mayweather fights the 6 fights and beats the likes of Guerrero, Canelo, Martinez, trout. and someone like Broner, how will he be ranked in this generation of fighters and the ATG list?

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

Witty response there San Patricio Dos, but nah man….it’s really not like that. If Mayflower were to actually man-up and fight those three cats (Pacman, Canelo, GGG) and truely beat them, he’d completely win me over as a fan and I’d start singing his praises like few posters on ESB. I might even start calling him the “greatest of all time” and/or “the chocolate Jesus” on the reg. I hereby swear this to be the truth. For real!

Posted February 19, 2013 10:18 pm

I’d be impressed if this was showing on CBS, not a PPV their pushing.

Posted February 19, 2013 9:55 pm

Right. If Floyd were to fight/beat Pac, it would be that Pac was ruined after the Marquez KO. If Floyd were to fight/beat Canelo it would be Canelo was nothing more than an “HBO hype job.” And if he were to fight/beat GGG it would be GGG never fought and beat anyone decent and was unproven. My point is” Floyd’s detractors/critics will NEVER be happy until he loses OR long after he retires and then they’ll reminisce about how great Floyd was/and the fighters of this era compared to the present.

a six fight contract is pretty aggressive for a 36 year old fighter. I doubt he sees 6 fights with showtime.

Floyd has to beat Pacman, Canelo and Triple G to make me happy and finally convince me that he’s a legitimate 5-division world champion — not a cherrypickin’ chess master of over-hyped promotions.

Posted February 19, 2013 9:39 pm

FA, who the heck does Floyd have to fight/beat to make you happy?

barely beat cotto, off the meds again moron

Posted February 19, 2013 8:59 pm

For all of you who wanted to see (a pre-Mosley) Antonio Margarito vs Floyd Mayweather, this is your fight. Though I’d argue Guerrero is better than the cheating Margarito ever was. Yes, Guerrero throws the same sort of punches in the same fashion. But he also has the same chin made of carbon fiber/kevlar/granite as Margarito, AND he is somewhat skilled on avoiding his opponent’s punches — something Margarito preferred to eat/use his face to catch. Make no mistake, this is NOT going to be an easy fight for Floyd, especially considering Floyd has been out of the ring for so long. If Floyd gets a W in this one, it will be another resume builder for one of the greatest of all time. If he wins it in dominant fashion, WOW!

Posted February 19, 2013 8:56 pm

Fight Aficionado

As I told y’all from day 1 it’s Floyd vs Guerrero. That never changed one minute. People just aren’t opposed to it anymore since he threatened to fight the horrible Alexander.

Posted February 19, 2013 8:45 pm

The Prince

And once again, Floyd shows that he’s just as great as a business man as he is a boxer in the ring. Floyd is clearly going out on top with this deal with Showtime, who in my opinion is the dominate network for boxing right now. They have a great boxing show for up-and-coming fighters they show every couple of weeks. Their PPV fights are free if you’re a Showtime subscriber. And their boxing commentary is far superior to Jim Lampley, Max Kellerman, and Roy Jones Jr. (Sorry, Jones.)

LMFAO…I guess all the a… … kissing from Max Kellerman didnt pay off.

This should be a surprise to anyone. What will be surprising is the very good fight Guerrero will put up. It won’t be enough, but Floyd will have some problems.

Posted February 19, 2013 8:29 pm

Awful comparison – Floyd can’t punch at his weight like the problem punches at his weight – Floyd’s got no eraser as long as the dude isnt tryin to hug him – as tough and durable as the ghost is, Floyd won’t stop him unless on cuts – again, stupid comparison, ignoramus!!

Posted February 19, 2013 7:43 pm

Ur right…he doesn’t have 6 fights in him…unless, he gets a few of those cans Canelo has been fighting!!

Posted February 19, 2013 7:34 pm

Yeah! I read the same thing, barely beat Cotto! Cotto may have won 3 maybe 4 rounds at the most. I could see if Cotto wobbled Mayweather or dropped him but, that wasn’t the case at all. Did Cotto put up a better fight than most before him, yes. Cotto is a very good fighter and always comes to fight. saying Maywether barely won is the same as saying Cotto almost won. Not even close my friend. Considering the time Mayweather has been off i’d say this is a good comeback fight for him. Fighting 6 times in 30 months will be a tough road for him considering he’s becoming more active in the later part of his career.

Boxtradumass, I distinctly remember when Manny fought on Show, you said it was a second reate network and Floyd would NEVER stoop to that level, he would stay with the #1 HBO. You ignorant nuthugging dweeb you’d back Floyd if he was caught molesting little boys…come to think of it thats probably why you love him so much. Prophet huh?

Guerrero!!! Hit FLoyd’s LEFT rib cage and left side of his face when you get him on the ropes. Cut that ring. Watch his father’s fight against Leonard.

Also I don’t understand how the people writing these articles r all leaning 2ward Floyd losing shortly….I can tell u no it won’t b 2 the Ghost or guy like Alvarez who is so 1 dementional. More wishful thinking…

Posted February 19, 2013 6:21 pm

Mayweather is the FARTHEST thing from a lazy boxer…. He is a guy who fighting at a SERIOUS level in terms of what it takes to set up his events.. He is not a neophyte its important for revenue to be maximized its not feasible for Mayweather to fight 3x per year… Besides this is NOT ODH or Ray Leonard in his later years… Mayweather always comes to the ring ready for combat and looks like he NEVER left… During late rounds he always has another gear… Floyd lazy? Thats a crazy statement he’s on a different echelon and schedule than the rest…

Posted February 19, 2013 6:20 pm

Great for Mayweather. Plus he’s tired of the post-fight interviews with the HBO idiots, especially the pugnacious Larry Merchant.

Barely beat Cotto? Wow. Some people must have been watching a diff fight. I can’t c him fighting 6more times…The ghost, Alvarez if he can get through Austin, Martinez 2 finish off.

he’ll net $200-300 million easy from this contract with showtime

Posted February 19, 2013 6:05 pm

Guererro will force the fight but still lose, good news to hear the Master fights at least another six times, its great watching a living legend of the ring.

Posted February 19, 2013 6:00 pm

I’ll say this: Floyd’s going to retire as one rich mofo and he’s going to live a great life until he dies.

Posted February 19, 2013 5:57 pm

“When you can tune UP vs. the #10 P4P Fighter in the World that’s called GOATNESS.” Wow! So when any other top tier fighter fights less than a top 5 P4P opponent he ain’t so hot–according to you. But when Mayweather does–and it’s a #10 at that–it’s a great thing? Whatever. Just admit it, Floyd has chosen yet another opponent who he feels poses the least threat to him. After all, you DO concur don’t you Braggy? #10 P4P tune-up? Wow, what a feat for Mr. Lazy Boxer.

Posted February 19, 2013 5:56 pm

“Especially relieved to not hear Max Kellerman who should be a TV game host instead of calling Fights” Boy, do I agree with you on this Boxy. And Jim Lampley should be an auctioneer because all he has is a big mouth and a gift for gab. But even Al Berstein often projects his one-sided favortistic “analysis” of fights.

Posted February 19, 2013 5:52 pm

Mayweather couldn’t fight 6 fights in 30 months if all his opponents forfeited. Contrary to what the “experts” say, Mayweather is a lazy boxer, who fights only every once in a while. Not only that, by the time Mayweather gets to fights 4,5, and 6–if he ever does (6 fights in 30 months means one fight every five months), he will be 38 and lazier than ever. My money says his last two fights, if he makes them, will be the borefests of the century–he will be in them only for the money.

Posted February 19, 2013 5:47 pm

Mayweather “barely” beat Miguel Cotto? Are you kidding? He dominated Cotto. Btw Sorby, make up your mind and quit talking in circles. You said: “HBO still has Manny Pacquiao and rising star Adrien Broner, so they’re not going to be hurting too much by the loss of Mayweather. However, losing Mayweather is a BIG deal…” It’s not a big deal but it is? See what happens when you have 7th grade writing skills?

Posted February 19, 2013 5:44 pm

Mayweather is like the marquis artist on a record label, his success pays for other artists/fighters to be able to ply their trade and possibly develop.. There are SOOO few fighters who are able to sell PPV’s and huge fights like Mayweather vs Cotto help defray the costs of other contests almost solely sponsored by the cable networks…

Posted February 19, 2013 5:40 pm

“HBO still has Manny Pacquiao and rising star Adrien Broner, so they’re not going to be hurting too much by the loss of Mayweather.”

Still has Pacquiao? Ugh you do know Pac was ktfo in his last fight. He’s closer to retirement then Mayweathe isr.

Broner is a rising star but he’s not their yet. This is gonna hurt HBO bad.

Posted February 19, 2013 5:27 pm

if you read the press release it clearly states “for a maximum of 6 fights over 30 months” that doesn’t mean he will have 6 fights over 30 months. He won’t come out of that undefeated (if he does that ties him with marciano) As for HBO this isnt the end of the world for them, they obviously made a business decision based on a guy who hasnt fought twice in a year since 2007 is 36 next week and is no longer being trained by former two division world champ uncle roger but by his toxic “roy munson” father who seems to feck up everything he touches and that’s before you start looking at the numbers and potential opponents floyd has in mind ( betcha no-one decent on it) – and im a huge floyd fan

Posted February 19, 2013 5:24 pm

i am surprised showtime got him, think its a good thing. A deal is a deal but i would also be surprised to see him in the ring that much. The alexander distraction they used makes this fight with the ghost look better for sure but cmon if u step back and look at the huge amount of opponents he has to choose from this fight is a joke. I guess Pac should fight Berto next cuz he will be guaranteed a fight with Floyd after. All u gotta do is beat Berto and u get the golden ticket. Floyd fans u gotta get upset with him at least every once in a while, you defend him no matter what. He could walk into your house and start playin with your moms cooter rite in front of you and youd probly cheer him on for it. wtf

Posted February 19, 2013 5:16 pm

If there was ever a chance for Pac-May, this deal probably ends that chance forever. Showtime plays it double smart because they’ll also get Canelo for at least 2 fights.

Posted February 19, 2013 5:14 pm

Folks, the math doesn’t add up here!! For 6 fights in 30 months, that means Floyd would have to fight once every 5 months (or more) for the next 2 1/2 years!!!! Does ANYONE on ESB think Floyd will fight that often???? I’ll put money on that not happening right here an now!

Posted February 19, 2013 4:54 pm

I like Guerrero but just like Cotto he’ll come forward all night and get picked to pieces and then all the haters will say Floyd only just won like they did when he beat Cotto.he always dose just enough to get the win he’s not struggled hes just so much better than his apponants he’s no need to step it up he can save some in the tank for next time, usually a year or two later.Dont think there are six credible apponants to fight is there? Anyway six fights in 30 months NOT A CHANCE.

Posted February 19, 2013 4:38 pm

te tumbo

even in his prime Mayweather appeared less-than-dominant at 154lbs, which he’s never actually weighed. it’s a testament to his welter dominance that he must occassionally target a bigger opponent to earn a respectable PPV payday. i’m certain that Guerrero will try and adapt to the biggest challenge of his career with some innovation or other but i won’t be surprised if this turns out to be a repeat of Broner v. DeMarco. pending a legitimate loss, Mayweather remains #1 P4P to Guerrero’s credible welter contention. he’s earned it but i expect Floyd to deliver the “W”.

Posted February 19, 2013 4:36 pm

ALL fighters lose if they fight long enough especially as they get up in age…What will NEVER be in dispute is that during anything close to his prime Mayweather was untouchable…He is 36 years old and guys are STILL being given NO SHOT to beat him… Clearly this is Floyds Tour de Force, the cashout if he really fights 6 times in 30 months he is seeing this as the end of his career… And what an amazing career it has been!! If he stopped today, he is one of the BEST to ever do it… A few more high profile wins and he goes a step beyond ATG….Truly a GREAT, enigmatic athlete with the STRONGEST mind in the sport…

Posted February 19, 2013 4:27 pm

E in Denver

“He barely beat Miguel Cotto last year in May..” Come on. Jr didn’t look as dominant as he usually does. Partly due to his age & mostly due to fighting a top level guy on even terms. But Jr clearly beat Cotto, he just didn’t shut him out. This contract does force Jr’s hand which is a good thing. Hopefully Haymon isn’t allowed to pull the same level of headlining mismatches he was at HBO.

some-ya-all gonna choke to death with all the fraud nutt gobbling going on this post!!!!!

Posted February 19, 2013 3:58 pm

WOW Floyd dipped on HBO!! I would love to know how much $$$$$$$$$$ Showtime paid for more than the Mayweather revenue they paid to potentially make Showtime a REAL competitor to HBO in the boxing game…People are following Mayweathers business example in droves and this could lead to other defections in the future… I am sure Canelo and others are thinkign about maxium money…

Posted February 19, 2013 3:37 pm

I also have to APPLAUD Showtime for doing whatever it took to get the Top Fighter in the World on their network. It will be a RELIEF not to hear all one sided coverage from HBO. Especially relieved to not hear Max Kellerman who should be a TV game host instead of calling Fights….The only downside is that there is probably no Broner on the card since he’s got a deal with HBO.

Posted February 19, 2013 3:14 pm

Another GREAT move by Floyd. He’s tuning UP vs. Guerrero who is currently #10 P4P. When you can tune UP vs. the #10 P4P Fighter in the World that’s called GOATNESS.

Finally !! something to applaud Mayweather for…..I am by no means the Biggest Floyd-lover in the world but this is very good news for Boxing…Instead of Mayweathers bull of only fighting once a year(barely) he’ll fight 6 times the next 2 and a half year…..Alot of money and exposure for Boxing….So all good news.
