Swedish Boxing Fan

Oleg Maskaev, best known for twice have upset defeated Hasim Rahman and with that the WBC world title belt. I must say, this man have never been an interesting fighter to watch and he have lost almost all his top fights and in his 7 losses he have been knocked out or stoped in all matches = Oliver McCall, David Tua, Kirk Johnson, Lance Whitaker, Samuel Peter, and even been knocked out by joyrnymen Corey Sanders and Nagy Aguilera so he was never ment for the top. Maskaev won his title and fame from that based on that Hasim Rahman went out of gas, more like luck twice in my view. I belive he should retrie now as he is soon 44 years old and have done and achived his dream in boxing so he will only get hurt by continuing. He will not get any more title shots (would be destroyed by both Klitschkos) and will not defeat or have a decent chanse against any top men in the league like Alexander Povetkin, Chris Arreola, Tyson Fury, Tomasz Adamek, Robert Helenius, David Haye, Kubrat Pulev, Dennis Boytsov, Dereck Chisora, David Price etc. Maskaiev will only be good as an easy gate keeper for young promising prospects so is that what an ex-champion should doo?

Two more guys who should not be fighting. Both have taken a lot of punishment and should retire. There is, apparently, money out there to be made, but, long term, it’s not worth it.

what a joke

“Maskaev impressive in beating Beck.” So was I! This sort of “fight” suggests we need a seniors circuit like exists in golf. Beck, Maskaev, Hollyfield, Donald et al could make a lucrative living putting on staged fights …oh, wait…..professional wrestling already caters for the freekshow market.

“The guy has arthritus! He was moving like a water buffalo against Sam Peter 5 years ago!” – LOL. Quote of the week.

Saying it’s impressive is like saying a driver was impressive when he ran over a crackhead on the way to the store. Beck’s lost 9 in a row now.

Voice of Logic

The rumor in boxing circles is that Beck is neurologically damaged, and he shouldn’t be fighting. Shame on Russian officials for allowing this fight to happen.

Beck’s been a punching bag since before he challenged what’s his face–the tall russian that hey somehow managed to beat.

Just watched part of this fight on Youtube. As others have said, Maskaev looked slow as hell and often missed badly – his reactions appear to be shot. Both fighters were so bad it almost looked like a sparring session.

Valuev even KO’d Beck…you don’t need much speed or power to get the job done.

How long will it be before Slater writes an article titled – The return of Oleg Maskaev: Can “The Big O” rise to the top of the HW division?

Maskev is fighting again. Man time for Beck to retire. Maybe Maskev can fight David Rodriques. Both scored 3rd round tko’s against Beck
