“followed by two bouts where the majority of credible ringside observers and Myself scored the bouts for Marquez, which is airtight.’ Well te tumbo, all I know is that the judges’ scoring for that fight was so skewed–one had Pac winning by five points, one had Marquez winning by five points, and one scored the fight as a draw. That tells me it was a mighty hard fight to score. Regardless, I had Pac winning because Marquez was technically four rounds in the hole by the end of round two and he had to play make up for the rest of the fight. Had he not been knocked down so many times, he would have clearly won the fight, but he had to catch up from way behind and just couldn’t do it. At least not in my eyes. As for fight #2, sorry dude, Pac won that fight. Period. As for being “behind the curve” LMAO! Actually, we just don’t agree.

“He done scammed us all!”. speak for yourself HIDALGO. i’ve always considered Pacquiao’s* “greatness” to be a scam. Btw, you’re further behind the curve than Kid BlASSthole. it was Pacquiao* who failed to defeat Marquez when it counted, e.g., three first-round KDs and no “W”? aka The Biggest Choke in Boxing History. followed by two bouts where the majority of credible ringside observers and Myself scored the bouts for Marquez, which is airtight. the last verdict was a disrespectful travesty. i for one Respect Marquez’s fierce dedication to making it Right. even Punkuiao* has found it impossible to avoid being sucked into the vortex of Marquez’s destiny NOT the other way around. after all, Team Punkuiao* did their best to avoid Marquez by spreading their rivalry over 10 F’n Years(?!), which must be the longest active rivalry in Boxing history(?). anyway, Marquez by TKO, i.e., I Agree with those who believe that Marquez will fight with the intensity of it being the last fight of his legendary career . . . “Duro-Duro-Duro!” . . . WAR Marquez.

Posted December 7, 2012 2:02 am

This 4th one will be almost a repeat of the 3rd — this time even more clearly a draw. The 1st was for Pacquiao, 2nd for Marquez, 3rd draw wobbly favoring Marquez by 1/4 point, 4th a CLEAR draw favoring neither.

I couldn’t agree with you more…pac haters and Marquez fans are praying for Marquez to win one time so they can say Marquez is better. What they don’t realize is that Pac already has two wins on him

Posted December 7, 2012 12:03 am

There’s nothing to get excited about. Neither one of these guys are fighting for a title. Four fights later, Marquez might finally get a win. Big deal. He couldn’t beat Pacquiao when it counted, and that’s when a title was on the line. So now we get to watch entertainment bouts. Damn, but Bob Arum is a master promoter! He’s got everyone all excited over a meaningless bout. Everyone’s in a hoopla debating who will win, who will lose. But really, it is a meaningless bout. If Pacquiao wins again what does he prove that he didn’t already prove three times before? If Marquez wins what does it prove? That he won one out of four bouts. That’s it. And no championship to go with it. And, one win won’t turn three losses into wins. Marquez’s record is what it is. So what do boxing fans get out of this? They get to say “I told you so!” Should Marquez win we’ll hear “I told you so!” Should Pacquiao win we’ll hear “I told you so!” C’MON! Pacquiao should be fighting Bradley in a rematch! Well, some of us think so. But like I said before Pac fought Bradley: If Pac loses to Bradley he won’t fight for another title. He’ll fight a few more money fights then retire. We are seeing that happen right now. Yep, Bob Arum is a master promoter. He done scammed us all!

Btw, i hope that Marquez is no less “juiced” than Pacquiao* for this bout. hopefully moreso. after all, i’m not against “juicing” per se. i’m only opposed to one fighter being able to reject another fighter’s anti-doping challenge, which is suspect, at best. otherwise, if neither fighter requests it, let the contest begin!

Posted December 6, 2012 10:07 pm

War of the Juicers

Marquez wins because he’s fresh on the juice. Manny’s years of juicing is catching up to him. Stuff aint working like it used to. It’s like alcoholics with alcohol. It’s the same potency when you’ve abused PEDs for years like Manny.

Posted December 6, 2012 9:45 pm

Marquez’s biggest problem has been that if he opens up too much he risks getting dropped – which means 10-8 rounds or worse- and if he sits back, forces Manny to fall in and counterpunches, he fails to get rounds from the judges. Plus he has hit Pac with every punch in the book 10 times and he hasn’t KO’d him, so he knows that’s a slim option. It really is a difficult decision for him, but he truly believes that he has won the fights and, that being the case, I believe he will take his chances with the judges and fight his fight. If anything, I think Manny might be feeling more pressure to put a lid on this and will want to open up more, which will give Marquez more opportunities to sit back and do his thing.

Posted December 6, 2012 9:28 pm

If Marquez is always counter-punching and not to attack PAC MAN.. definitely, he will not win this fight..

Posted December 6, 2012 8:51 pm

Marquez fought the best Pac in the first fight & after 3 knock downs, almost pulled it off…Pac is doomed.

Posted December 6, 2012 8:35 pm

i was the lone poster, on the early Pac/Marquez articles, stating why i thought Marquez will win this time; there’s absolutely nothing Pac can do that Juan can’t counter. Nothing & the judges won’t dare screw him this time. Simple really.

SRedmond, you are countering the posts almost as well as JMM. Quit using the energy of other posters to make your points. How about a definitive prediction rather than dancing around? Pac or Marquez or a draw?

Posted December 6, 2012 6:49 pm

SREDMOND – You’re right. He might not be hitting “harder” per say, but the added strength (muscle) may allow him to use his physical strength a bit more, and allow himself to push Manny back as apposed to shying away from the physical aspects of the bout, especially when in close.

Posted December 6, 2012 6:20 pm

I think we are assuming that Marquez is hitting harder because he LOOKS stronger… What evidence do we have to suggest that? He was buzzing Pac in spots during the second bout and the MOST hurt he had Manny was the 8th round of that fight? If Marquez gets a stoppage it will likely be due to him pressing and pressing instead of potshotting…Having some additional muscle might help him take Mannys power more effectively but I am not ready to assume that JMM is hitting measurably harder

Posted December 6, 2012 6:03 pm

I have a gut feeling Marquez is going to put some hurt on Pacquiao.

Posted December 6, 2012 6:02 pm

Boxtradamus – Good points! I agree.

Posted December 6, 2012 6:01 pm

“and those new muscles will slow him down”-Marquez doesn’t depend on Speed anyway. He depends on timing and precision.

Posted December 6, 2012 5:17 pm

“It’s time for him to take it into his own hands don’t you think?”-Yup. That’s exactly what he’s doing. That’s why he’s adding more Power. All he has to DO is keep doing what he’s already DONE but with more Power. This time it will end up as a knockout WIN or PUNISHING SD. (still an idiot Judge will give it to Pacquiao)

Posted December 6, 2012 5:16 pm

They both look old.
Marquez won’t be able to do much counterpunching, as Pac barely punches anymore.

Posted December 6, 2012 5:13 pm

Marquez is also wasting all his energy getting angry and looking so screw-faced all the time.

Posted December 6, 2012 4:59 pm

Marquez looks really old and beaten up, i have a feeling that will be shown on the night, he has had too many hard fights, and those new muscles will slow him down.

Posted December 6, 2012 4:55 pm

Marquez doesn’t really fight, he just let’s Pacquiao do all the fighting, and he just counter punches.

Posted December 6, 2012 4:48 pm

Malachi, I agree that Pac is NOT the same whirlwind of yesteryear but I KNOW he can produce BETTER volume than we saw in the past couple of bouts… And the reality is that he is going to have to step it up… As for Marquez “knowing how to beat him” thats not entirely accurate, he knows how to fight on pretty even terms with him… But he has FAILED to get a clear win (I know everyone will say he was robbed) reality is that emotions aside all bouts were close and he was not the beneficiary…. The GOAL now should be for him to actually hurt Pac Man and back him up…. Thats a different mindset than what we have seen.

Posted December 6, 2012 4:38 pm

Boxtradamus – How many professors has Marquez had?? Looks like they’re all idiots. It’s time for him to take it into his own hands don’t you think?

Posted December 6, 2012 4:36 pm

I wouldn’t advise going for Pacquiao’s body. When you attack the body your FACE is left open. Pacquiao will trade a body blow for a free shot to the FACE everyday of the week. Marquez doesn’t have to DO anything different. All he needs is BETTER Judges. Marquez WON at least 7 rounds last Fight. That’s all you have to DO to WIN……IF I write an essay and every professor says its an A paper but one says its an F what DO I DO?? Try to jump through hoops to please this one hard ass Professor or do I just change classes SO that I have a different Professor who will give me the A that I deserve??….Marquez doesn’t need to get more aggressive that’s not his game and he shouldn’t let blind people force him into that game. Keep doing what you’re doing and hopefully the Judges give the Fight to the man who lands the most effective PUNCHES rather than the guy who was pure aggressive…..Marquez landed ALL of the head snapping Punches in the last Fight…..Judges need to stop being Fans (OH I LIKE Pacquiao because he’s more aggressive) and just Judge what transpires.

Posted December 6, 2012 4:29 pm

SREDMOND – But since I’m going for Marquez…I prefer to point out his keys to victory lol Which is, fight smart, but be aggressive, never throw one punch, even if they don’t land…throw combos and stay on Pacquiao if/when you land. Lots of body shots too, Pacquiao has a good chin, Marquez would be wise to attack that body early and often.

Posted December 6, 2012 4:12 pm

Posted December 6, 2012 4:10 pm

PacMan needs to steamroll JMM and keep him fighting for 2 1/2 mins over every round… At the end of the day he is the YOUNGER fighter, with heavier hands.. Trying to outbox Marquez in the pure sense is NOT going to work and plays to JMM’s advantages… Manny needs to channel his inner brute and seek destruction absent looking slick while accomplishing the goal… He is NOT gonna breakdown Marquez like Broner did Demarco, its time for a little Brandon Rios coming out of PacMan…. The same guy who treated Cotto like he was shooting BB’s.

Jospeh Herron – I don’t agree. Pacquiao HAS to go back to his old ways, he needs that forward marching swarming style…the “fighting smart” doesn’t help him against the smarter fighter, Marquez.. The ‘smarter’ Pacquiao fights, the EASIER that’ll make it for Marquez.

Posted December 6, 2012 3:28 pm

JMM – Fight! Don’t be like all the other figthers who fought Manny. Stop complaining and fight. If you need to take a beating to win then be a man and take that risk! Posted December 6, 2012 3:16 pm

Jospeh Herron

Pacquiao will bust marquez up with speed…Marquez’s new physique will be his undoing in part IV. Pacquiao will not sit in the pocket and trade with him for this fight. Pac will respect JMM’s power because of his obvious build this time.

You will see Pac implement a smarter fight plan that doesn’t just follow JMM in a straight line. He will use more feints and lateral movement with just one or two shots at a time.

Pac 12 round UD

I will be here to, no doubt, If a´m not “celebrating” tha magic with to “to two masters bout” is gone for good

Posted December 6, 2012 3:14 pm

Ridiculous assertion the idea that Marquez CLEANLY won those 3 fights is nonsensical and ignorant of the action and close nature of the bouts… I was fine with Marquez winning the 2nd or 3rd fight but it was a bit of a tossup due to the scant number of punches he threw… Doing the SAME thing and assuming the judges are going to see it his way is FOOLHARDY… And to be honest he was given additional credit because he was a 7-1 underdog so he had some VERY low (ridiculously low) expectations to overcome… JMM needs to let his hands go more and that means RISK, but the rewards are a possible stoppage or really putting some hurt on Manny.

Posted December 6, 2012 3:06 pm

Boxtradamus – Well that’s good. BUT, I would still prefer Marquez up the aggression a little….leave NO doubt.

Posted December 6, 2012 2:53 pm

Viking1-We’ll SEE. I bet that I’ll be HERE celebrating Saturday night!

Posted December 6, 2012 2:51 pm

Well I believe that they SAY that there will be Judges in this Fight that haven’t judged any of the other three which should be GOOD for Marquez. Because the Judges of the last Fight were in the vast minority with their scoring. Almost any other 3 Judges would have given it to Marquez. SO Marquez doesn’t have to do anything but continue to land the most effective punches for the majority of the rounds like he DID last time.

Posted December 6, 2012 2:50 pm

Boxtra, almost allways spot on but not this time
Pac by stappage any round

Posted December 6, 2012 2:43 pm

SREDMOND – Exactly. Marquez’s “one and done” punching won’t cut it….he should know that from the last two fights. He needs to throw in combinations EVERY TIME he touches Pacquiao on the chin. He can’t land once and chill back to admire his work, that only allows Pacquiao’s “aggressiveness” to “sway” the judges.

Posted December 6, 2012 2:30 pm

Titopia, I agree I would like to see Marquez be FAR more aggressive! he needs to go out to WIN…

Posted December 6, 2012 2:23 pm

Boxtradamus – The judges are idiots, most of the time…so, I suggest Marquez be smart and make sure their stupidity is over shadowed by his superior boxing skills. He has to make them see how much better he is, it obviously hasn’t been enough for the judges, well then, he needs to do more or he’s just as stupid as they are.

Posted December 6, 2012 2:19 pm

Boxtradamus – I’m not arguing that, I agree completely . What I mean is Marquez, knowing the sh***y scoring, should NOT allow Pacquiao to ‘sway’ the judges. When he lands, he needs to keep landing until he feels he’s taken control of the situation then he can back off, regroup and do it again.

Posted December 6, 2012 2:15 pm

“Pacquiao ‘stalked’ and appeared aggressive, which swayed the judges”-Well that’s not Marquez’s fault. How about get some better Judges. Any Judge that says aggression is more important than Punches landed should be banned.

Posted December 6, 2012 2:05 pm

SREDMOND – I didn’t say Marquez should “stand and trade”….I meant that Marquez should just jump on Pacman a bit more after he lands significant punches. In the last fight, Marquez landed various clean precise right hands that shocked Pacquiao, yet Marquez pulled away and waited for another opportunity, meanwhile, Pacquiao ‘stalked’ and appeared aggressive, which swayed the judges. I’d like to see Marquez pounce a bit more after landing. He needs to give Pacman less time to ‘recover’ and come back.

Posted December 6, 2012 1:09 pm

Titopia, Pac Man can catch Marquez, JMM fought almost the ENTIRE last fight counterpunching, if he stands his ground and opens up he is going to get hit and that is the DANGER of exchanging with Pac Man…

Posted December 6, 2012 12:57 pm

I truly believe Marquez can stop Pacquiao….if he presses more often (like he should’ve) and stays on top of Pacquiao after landing those crisp vicious right hands, I think he can do it. Problem is that Marquez worries too much about being hit, yes Pacman hits hard, but Marquez proved in the 3rd fight that Pacquiao can no longer “catch” him. Seeing as Pacman wants a KO this time around, look for him to throw many more punches, giving Marquez many more opportunities. Let’s go Marquez!!!!

Posted December 6, 2012 12:53 pm

Marquez has fought Manny extraordinarily well given the fact that Pac Man is the naturally stronger/faster, more dynamic athlete… But the truth is that JMM has not been able to show anything close to the level of mastery he has shown over most of his competitors… ie Diaz, Katsidis and others… Marquez is 39 and he should treat this like its his LAST major bout, and truly go out on his sheild, being overly cerebral, risk adverse ect is going to position him for a LOSS on the cards… I am pretty confident that either Marquez will finally get to Pac Man in a major way or that Manny is going to knock the 39 year old bulked up Marquez OUT….. Either way this is the culmination of a piece of history we are all privilidged to witness…!!

“Pacquiao needs to get to Marquez. He needs to be aggressive, but he cannot be reckless and leave himself in unfavorable positions that keep him off balance and open to Marquez counters”, i.e., that is one prediction for a Marquez win. otherwise, Pacquiao* has NEVER demonstrated the ability to be aggressive without being countered by Marquez. bottomline, Pacquiao* remains the same single-fisted, one-dimensional, ring-dumb puncher he’s always been and Marquez knows it. “Manila Ice”, Pacquiao’s* “brilliant” footwork were and remain promotional myths. Pacquiao’s* biggest hope is Marquez getting old overnight. otherwise, the thoroughly-acclimated “welter” Marquez finally Pummels and Punishes Pacquiao* for the TKO win i was certain he would score in the last bout and my favorite sport will finally be rid of the most corrupting element in Boxing. that this service will be provided by a consummate professional and legend like Marquez is sweet and poetic justice to every true fight-fan who loves Boxing.

Whomever tries to make the fight is going to deserve the victory… Sorry Marquez as amazing as you are I am NOT gonna have sympathy if you are throwing 30 punches per round, you are going to have be mix up the counterpunching with aggression… He has done it with the Diaz, Barreras and Katsidis of the world…He is going to have to do it against Manny Pacquiao no matter what the risks.

Totally agree! However, I think MP needs to get the KO over JMM in the 4th to insure the victory. I wouldn’t be surprised to see MP loss a decision no matter how close or lop-sided the fight was.

Posted December 6, 2012 12:05 pm

JMM Has to fight! MP is always the aggressor brings the fight to JMM. MP Eats a ton of counter punches for his trouble. JMM wrongly believes that his sit and wait for MP and then counterpunch strategy is the correct recipe for victory. JMM has to step up his game and bring the fight to MP not every round but at least 4 rounds. As for MP I believe their’s no love for him in Vegas right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if he beat JMM soundly and decisively that he could get a decision. MP needs to KO JMM to insure he gets the victory!

Posted December 6, 2012 12:00 pm

I am a HUGE fan of Marquez but he consistently has tried to leave his fate in the hands of the judges during CLOSE fights… He had Manny hurt in round 8 of the 2nd fight and he did NOT go balls out and try to get him out of there… He had momentum going into the final rounds or the 3rd fight but he played it safe and did NOT close the show AGAIN relying on the judges to interpret his greater accuracy and precision as superior to Pac Mans aggression and volume.. Its time for JMM to take the kind of risks that might get him knocked out, but will give him the opportunity to either badly hurt, stop Pac Man or produce and undeniable win… Marquez has 2 losses to Manny on his record, the onus is on him to REALLY bring it….

Posted December 6, 2012 10:32 am

There is ALOT of lazy thinking going on at this point…. In my mind the odds of another give and take battle are getting slimmer…I see a scenario where someone is going to decisively defeat or stop the other man…I have never seen a trilogy that was fought more closely across all 3 bouts, each man KNOWS this is it!! JMM has taken his foot off the gas a few times in an effort NOT to make a mistake that puts him on his seat or gets him stopped, Manny tried to be too cerebral at times and shunned his caveman/warrior instinct….These are GREAT fighters and I believe each guy is going to treat this bout like his last and leave it all in the ring…. I would not be too surprised to see either guy stopped!

Posted December 6, 2012 10:19 am

For me, Marquez was the clear winner in the first fight and a close winner in the second two fights. It is more of a question of whether the judging will be fair this time round.

Posted December 6, 2012 9:20 am

For Marquez to be decisive he has to try and pressure Pacquiao and force him backwards and make him fight out his comfort zone as opposed to waiting to counter, if anything its Manny’s aggression that has won him the prior victories, looks better to the judges, Pacman has to try what he did in the first fight and ambush him because he will never out-box Marquez.
