But Lomachenko was robbed versus Salido. He won that fight.

Posted June 7, 2014 1:59 am

Lomachenko tried to do something unprecedented. Not smart because you have to adapt to the pro game for a few fights no matter HOW good you are … Now Lomachenko is at a high pro level with only 2 pro fights and he’s fighting another super fought fight with Gary Russell in his 3rd fight.

That’s not smart either, but I wish him luck. Russell is better than Salido.

SREDMOND, you are entirely reactive. YOu look at a result and say “OKay this happened so I accept the world is like this, and now it stays like that until blah blah happens”.

That might be understandable in sports where contests occur every week, but in those were they occur one every few months or maybe twice a year, and there simply doesn`t exist the time, or financial inclination for everyone to fight everyone in a league, there is going to have to be a degree of interpretation.

On your blunt logic we might still be looking at Chris John as greater than JMM.

Sredmond.., Ask any boxing coach, a long and accomplished amateur career in invaluable. That’s why Rigondeaux is so good with only 13 fights or so. He was like 395-4 as an amateur. You need a few pro fights to adjust no matter how many amateur fights you have, because it’s a totally different game — but Rigo adjusted unbelievably fast.

Ronnie Shields said that after 9 pro fights Rigo knew more than pro boxers with 60 pro fights… His skills had transferred already – because he fought every style 25 times or more.

If you had any background in Boxing you’d appreciate these things.

Canelo would beat Mannys ass people always compair Pac to Floyd but MW schooled Canelo and Marquez easily.

Tark, you NEVER discussed Canelos amateur background UNTIL he LOST!! Who gives a fcuk about his amateur career whatever he learned in Mexico set him up to be the Unifed Champ of his division and a big star in boxing.. You are discussing all these deficits because he lost to a guy who has been schooling fighters since the 90’s… Canelo losing to Mayweather is NO shame he could have gone to the Olympics 18 times and still would have lost…

Posted June 5, 2014 4:43 pm

A hundred years ago the US and UK had the top amateur boxing programs in the world… All the other countries were so far behind they were complete jokes… They would win only if they had a super phenomenal athlete. Today, many other countries have pushed their programs so far ahead they’re no longer jokes. They’re into the science and they’re tough.

In fact, it’s almost getting to the point where America is the joke when you look at the lone Olympic medal we’ve won in the past eight years. The lonely bronze that Bronze Bomber Deontay Wilder picked up.

Posted June 5, 2014 3:00 pm

Canelo was 22 when he signed for the Floyd fight…

Canelo had a very limited amateur career. His first 30 professional fights more or less acted as the seasoning many other fighters get from 100’s of amateur fights. It’s not the same however — because you don’t get to fight 4 or 5 times in a week like top amateurs do in tournaments, and enentually meet hundreds of different boxers traveling from many different countries.

The schooling a top amateur boxer gets cannot be replaced. It’s priceless

Posted June 5, 2014 2:10 pm

Sanity, HOW is Shawn Porter “bigger and stronger” than Miguel Cotto who has the balls to challenge for the MW Title? he is younger but Cotto is not an old man yet… I think he is biting off more than he can chew at 160 but selling Porter has more of a threat based on a points win over Alexander and beating up a power deficient Paulie is ridiculous to me and very indicative of being on the bandwagon….

Posted June 5, 2014 9:43 am

Shawn Porter is NOBODYS lock to beat Marcos Maidana what the hell has he done to garner so much cache and be seen as a TOP threat to Floyd Mayweather? The guys who gave “Money” the most trouble in recent history were physical like Cotto and Maidana who were bigger guys as it pertains to mass… Porter brings nothing special to the table as it pertains to physical assets, and he is NOT a super gifted pugilist.. I respect the determination and desire I have seen at the level he has boxed at but a Canelo Alvarez would wax him…

Porter would be favored over Maidana by me… And if the oddsmakers favored Maidana by a certain amount — I would bet heavily on Porter.

I don’t give a damn how good Maidana looked against Floyd.. If he fought Lara… Porter… Thurman… or Brook… he’d get outboxed and lose.

Trout looked damned good against Cotto — and like CRAP against Lara.

Well it’s not a marquee bout but at least he’s getting back in the ring with a somewhat brief hiatus. Let’s see what that ducking cherry picker Martinez says about fighting GGG after he beats Cotto. HBO obv is going to ask about it in the post-fight interview.

Posted June 4, 2014 5:48 pm

When I look at list of fighters that Golovkin faces, most of them havent performed in last 6 bouts, there down in confidence, and fighting GGG wrong, and trying to stand toe to toe with him. Geale is alot smarter then that, Geale will put the pressure on, hit and move and use angles and with Geale’s confidence, GGG is gonna be in for along night. This will be interesting if Golovkin can handle this pressure Geale brings to the table, especially the late round of the fight.

Posted June 4, 2014 5:37 pm

Redmond as usual shows his lack of knowledge about boxing. Cotto is a shell of what he once was while Porter is bigger , fresher, undamaged , faster and a bigger puncher.

Tark, if you don’t think that a PROVEN 3 weight Champ like Cotto who has been in the ring with everyone of the era Mayweather, Pacquiao, Margo, Mosley, Judah when he still had a something left, and and a slew of other boxers is not more dangerous than Shawn Porter who is defeating a few leftovers then your boxing BRAIN is fried…

Posted June 4, 2014 4:41 pm

Tark is UTTERLY ridiculous he was all over Canelos chances against Mayweather and when that plan failed he moved on to the NEXT guy he wants to OVER support… Shawn Porter would NOT be a favorite against Marcos Maidana, Maidana has been a problem for ALMOST every fighter that he faced, Cotto battered Paulie YEARS ago, Porter is got a guy who is soon for retirement and was discussing that situation before he signed with Haymon and raised some funds.

Posted June 4, 2014 4:38 pm

Sredmond says.., “Miguel Cotto, is a MUCH more dangerous boxer than Shawn Porter, he broke Malignaggis face when Paulie was a young guy.”

Paulie was badly injured and STILL went the distance with Cotto.. Porter SMASHED Paulie OUT in short order.. He didn’t outpoint him like Broner and Cotto did … HE SMASHED HIM!!! … and did it in gig time.

You should put your brain in gear before you start flapping your yap.

Kato, Espinoza from Showtime says 1 mill for Guerrero and that’s about as official as we are gonna get relative to sports writers and others who do NOT even work for the network..Rumors sometimes are true but a lot of time they are just rumors.

Posted June 4, 2014 3:57 pm

Kato, NO boxer can “do it by himself” you need a dance partner and the BIG numbers are usually gonna be a result of some degree of shared popularity… Lewis vs Holy, Tyson vs Holy, Lewis vs Holy all resulted from the combatants bringing something to the table…. That said Canelo would not do 1 million buys against Cotto at this point, and certainly not 1.25 mill against Victor Ortiz… Oscar’s best with no Floyd Mayweather was 1.4 mill, with Floyd 2.4 mill and a record… Floyd has exceeded that number (1.4 mill) on more than one occasion FACT is that people are tuning into to see Mayweather primarily or his opposition would be able to duplicate the success with others as A side players.

Posted June 4, 2014 3:51 pm

ok, I’ll give it to ya…. 900,000 buys for the Guerrero fight.
Which looks different from 1,000,000 buys. Sure the 100,000 difference doesn’t quite make a helluva difference but, it’s like when they put prices at the gas pump, $3.49 looks a lot cheaper to the average consumer than $3.50… Know what I mean?

And we’ve had this argument before you and I…. The guys that Maytwitter broke records with, Canelo, Oscar…. heck even Cotto…. Brought a major following with them. You can’t knock that FACT. He didn’t do it by himself.

Posted June 4, 2014 3:46 pm

NO it did not! There was no OFFICIAL announcement… If thee was… I can’t find it. All I find are speculations of why Showtime is not providing the #’s as quickly as they did for the Alvarez fight. There is nothing concrete. Dan Rafeal, said there were no official #;s coming out from the Maidana fight, which was the same thing that happened with the Guerrero fight.

Posted June 4, 2014 3:35 pm

Kato, AGAIN we are dealing in speculation I don’t think May vs Maidana was in line with the usual 1 mill buys because of the odds against Marcos and the amount of time it has taken to give an official tally… Could be wrong… That said Mayweather vs Guerrero was announced by a Showtime exec as 1 mill, I have no reason to refute that but for the sake of argument you can deduct 100k if you like and we still have Floyd doing 3.1 million buys over the 2 fight span I discussed with that idiot Bears vs plummeting PPV numbers for Manny who I am also a big fan of.. Either way you have Mayweather doubling his nearest rival in this category everyone else is not worth mention.

Posted June 4, 2014 3:24 pm

Yea… the figures for the Maytwitter vs Guerrero fight was not mentioned outright by anyone. There were the same skepticism as with the Maidana fight… less than 900,000 PPV buys. (Dan Rafael)

Which given the scale of the fight is a really good showing… but with Maytwitter, anything less than 1 mil PPV buys is disappointing.

Posted June 4, 2014 3:20 pm

Kato, Espinoza at Showtime said 1 mill if you have some HARD data to the contrary please provide I love to be accurate that said how do you characterize that “as a farce” if you ADMIT you don’t currently have the data to refute? your feelings? gut instinct about 1 million peoples or somewhere in that ranges buying patterns??

Posted June 4, 2014 3:18 pm

Bears, what do you mean when you say “Canelo did not look like himself” do you think it was an imposter? secret agent? clone? or are you referring to the fact that when an undefeated fighter loses its a new experience? Canelo was in the ring with an ATG and thus his skills were not above Floyds like all boxers he had a chance but Mayweather was not yielding that night! guess the only way he “looks like himself” is if Floyd lost?? Seriously you are a DOLT ….

Posted June 4, 2014 3:17 pm

Yea… I don’t remember 1 mil PPV buys for Guererro. That’s a farce. BUt I will have to research…

Posted June 4, 2014 3:15 pm

Bears, Floyd did not “run the clock out” Alvarez had 36 minutes to get some hard leather on the P4P King and he failed! He stood right in the pocket and punched Canelo dead in the face when the kid tried to get one off…It was masterful boxing in the eyes of intelligent fight fans… I know you wanted him to drop his hands and close his eyes so that you could masturbate in peace while Saul took free swings but Money May is a pro!! 46-0 5 weight classes, 22 world Title fight, 4 lineals, 9 time World Champ, Unfied 154 and 147 pound Champ… Does NOT get better than this !!!

Posted June 4, 2014 3:13 pm

Bears, you were NOT outspoken against Canelo vs Mayweather you swore that Alvarez was gonna be too fast and he would get to Floyd (The Matrix) your description.. Against Trout Canelo hit the scale at 153.5 against Floyd 152, he was physically fine and that’s NOT an excuse… Bears you were SERIOUSLY advocating for Floyd to face GGG at 154 that would have necessitated Golovkin dropping 7 pounds you are contradicting yourself again and simply using this as an excuse.. You wanted Floyd to move up AGAIN and face Martinez at 160 which would have been 7 divisions from where he started AGAIN you are contradicting yourself… You say he is facing “small guys” Ortiz was 14 pounds heavier, Cotto 12 pounds, Canelo 17 pounds and Maidana 18 pounds heavier… Your claim does NOT hold up under scrutiny HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Posted June 4, 2014 3:10 pm

Bears, Mayweather vs Guerrero was MORE successful than ANY PPV that Pac Man has done in years absent him getting KOed by Marquez the 4th bout… Guerrero did 1 million and Canelo 2.2 million that’s 3.2 million buys in one year… Manny did 475k buys against Rios in Macau and 1 mill plus getting KOed by JMM so that’s 3.2 mill vs 1.5 or 1.6 mill… In essence Mayweather did 2x the number of buys his nearest rival did…. SOOOOOOOOOO its pretty damn cool being Floyd Mayweather!! FACTS

Posted June 4, 2014 3:05 pm

Bears, the ONLY guy who harps on about Race all the time is YOU and its usually when I smash your silly boxing arguments that you cannot support!! You constantly just vacate decisions you don’t like and NOW you are alleging conspiracies that you of course cannot prove… Maidana was a HUGE underdog why in the world would Mayweather “somehow” influence the outcome? can you prove this? AGAIN you will NEVER ban me, when I become bored of pounding you I might stop but until then you will suffer at my hands, I am smarter, more handsome, more cosmopolitan and more educated than you… Honestly you don’t stand a chance and the collective brains of you and Tark who pounds you in your dusty rear cannot really gain any ground against me… You are VERY emotional and you want me to join you on that cumulus cloud you live on in the sky, ain’t happening Poppy!

canelo is the matrix and reaping laras scalp will cement that kids already GREATNESS……canelo vs mayweather was a non fight if i ever saw one. it was a floyd running the clock out. very anticlimatic and canelo obviously not looking like himself in the ring.

maybe im right maybe im wrong thats my sense of it and there is no way to prove one way or the other. time will tell how great canelo actually is and he already has a HUGE following and he is already someone we LOVE TO WATCH.

Posted June 4, 2014 2:57 pm

Bears, as far as “home advantage” WTF are you talking about? Las Vegas has been a mecca for boxing since before Floyd Mayweather was born and the biggest fights have often taken place there.. The massive live gates that get these fighters PAID their biggest paydays come because people LOVE Sin City… Mayweather living there is his choice others can do the same if they choose but then again they cannot sell out the MGM Grand and make everyone rich in the process… Try to be remotely logical, Mayweather usually wins his fights by such a WIDE margin that its a joke to discuss the outcome… Maidana came to fight but he LOST and like Dan Rafael said the Champ dug deep and WON it down the stretch…Guess Dan’s getting paid off too? LMAO!

Bears, Thurman and Porter are being discussed because its a logical bout given the fact they are both up and coming fighters… Bears I remember you saying that Floyd should NOT “even fight little Pacquiao” are you changing your tune AGAIN? “Coming up in weight” are you against the practice? because out of Floyds last 4 fights he came up to 154 2x, and was outweighed by a minimum of 12 pounds in 3 of them? Double standard? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Canelo made no excuses and has moved on with his career… As for Maidana AGAIN we have one guy who is Unifed Champ in 2 weight classes Floyd Mayweather and one guy who is excited to give a good fight YET lose because he was a better wrestler than boxer… LOL

Canelo and Mayweather never fought at 154 so i do not know what would happen if they did. rather they fought at 152 where canelo had no stamina. canelo struggles to make 154 let alone 152. I bet canelo could do to floyd what the great maidana did with some stamina.

Hell yeah porter stands a good chance to beat floyd did you see what maidana did to floyd??? Clear reason’s as to why floyd dodges the best. Has been dodging the best his whole career and has always dodged the best welters so bad that te tumbo is not even asking “well what welter should he fight then??”

LO phukin L son!!!!

Posted June 4, 2014 2:27 pm

floyd does not fight who the public calls for so that sairheadmon quote is stupid as phuck. So basically dismiss the whole post of his on why floyd can not face porter. Floyd does not face anywhere close to the fighters the public wants him to face. There is just a lot of empty space in sairheadmon’s head so he usually sputters out the first thing that comes to mind.

3g i think is the best middleweight. definitely its most punishing striker and that part is not really debatable. I see him blowing Geale out of the water and stepping up to the winner of cotto martinez following the fight provided they do not duck 3g or martinez win and abruptly retire. or martinez win, body fails again, and martinez retires

either way 3G is the FUTURE.

Posted June 4, 2014 1:55 pm

GGG fought a bunch of nobodies his resume sucks, he needs to face the winner of the Canelo fight or move up and challenge Ward. Either way he is overhyped

Posted June 4, 2014 1:51 pm

Miguel Cotto, is a MUCH more dangerous boxer than Shawn Porter, he broke Malignaggis face when Paulie was a young guy and he banged with the best of them and Floyd Mayweather outboxed him and left him contused during a nice scrap ABOVE Floyds best weight class… Mayweather and Porter are not fighting because Porter has NOT earned it, the public is not calling for it and aside from YOU who would naturally reverse his position after the fight Porters chances would not be held in high regard..

Posted June 4, 2014 1:34 pm

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Shawn Porter “beat Floyds azz” now you have REALLY gone crazy… Canelo Alvarez is a MUCH more dangerous fighter than Shawn Porter and Floyd handled him with ease spotting him almost 20 pounds the night of the bout…By your logic Floyd destroyed Marquez technically YET Marquez as an OLD man DESTROYED Manny Pacquiao so how can you see a route to victory for Pac Man given your stance on Porter beating Alexander and thus invalidating Maidana?

Posted June 4, 2014 1:31 pm

I disagree that Broner and Malignaggi were perceived as the “same level” that’s a WEAK thought process… Paulies upside had already been shown thru a long veteran career, gutty guy, very good boxer but 00000 power and he mostly lost as he stepped up including 2 stoppages… Maidana was NOT the favorite going into the bout and Monday Morning Quarterbacking his upset is just corny… The win was FAR more significant than Porter beating a BADLY power deficient Malignaggi who had already been stopped in his career… That was a pathetic attempt for even you tark SMH…

Posted June 4, 2014 1:29 pm

Sredmond… You just don’t think and evaluate clearly. Broner and Malignaggi are on approximately the same level. They fought to a SD and many thought Paulie edged that fight and deserved a rematch. Paulie shouted his ass off that he won.

In sharp contrast… Porter smashed Malignaggi like he didn’t exist… Maidana couldn’t take Broner out at all… If Porter and Maidana fought Shawn would kill MM … That’s not even a fight the skill levels are so far apart. Porter also beat Alexander — who also beat Maidana.

Floyd won’t fight Porter for one reason. He might get his ass beaten.

Posted June 4, 2014 1:18 pm

This is a good action fight for as long as it lasts. I hope Geale is making a lot of money. He always gives his best but this is a tall order.

Tark, why is the onus not on Pacquiao to leave TR and make this fight? We all know the reasons it’s not happening but let’s get real PAC spent a year rehabbing after Marquez blasted him then it was off to fight rematches with Bradley who most thought he beat first time out… You were RAVING about Canelo as an opponent now you don’t respect the Mayweather win?? Canelo gets more respect than Lara, Porter, Brook or Thurman you idiot..

Tark, we all know that Mayweather might not ever fight at 154 again it’s not how best division.. He has ONLY fought mega bouts there ODH,Canelo, Cotto… You don’t wanna respect him beating Maidana who had a strap and was coming off a MUCH bigger win than Porter, or Thurman produced..

Posted June 4, 2014 1:07 pm

The Consensus is NOT that GGG is the best 160 pounder, Martinez is rightly ring Champion GGG has been knocking out weak opposition.. Of Course Golovkin and Quillin are gonna have a hard time meeting in
The ring Quillin fights on Showtime and GGG HBO… Despite your ignorance these politics affect matchups..

Posted June 4, 2014 1:04 pm

Tark, ONLY on your world are Porter, Thurman and Brook considered “super tough” Lara has a serious dance partner in Canelo where he stands a STRONG chance of losing, Porter and Thurman look like they are on a collision course as young fighters the winner would have more cred as a possible Mayweather opponent…
You have done a terrible job of selling these guys as the answers to the Mayweather puzzle..

Posted June 4, 2014 1:01 pm

The consensus is: GGG is the best at 160.

I didn’t say he was the GOAT. He has to do a lot more. Not to say that he won’t accomplish that. But it looks like Floyd is retreating from his roll as GOAT, or as he puts it “The best ever.” He seems to be shrinking from the responsibility he has to maintain that status. A person’s status can change rapidly.

It’s hard to remain ‘the best ever’ if you dodge the best existing boxers in your class.

Posted June 4, 2014 12:50 pm

Geale is not the guy GGG should be fighting. Martinez and Quillin are. They won’t fight him so he has to fight somebody. This is marking time until he gets the right fights.

For Floyd, the super tough fights are there: Lara… Porter… Thurman… Brook… or Pacquiao… He would rather fight easy guys with poor skills like Khan and Maidana.

For GGG the best skilled middleweights won’t fight him. He has no choice but to fight the best available middleweight while he waits for the other middleweight champs to grow a pair.

Posted June 4, 2014 12:39 pm

Tark, its weird that you pretty much give Geale NO CHANCE yet you are ready to extend GGG credit for the win? When fighters like FMJ defeat World Champions you call them “no good” ie Maidana? whats with the double standards…Also why are you calling Geale “a World Champion” isn’t he a former World Champion? looks like you are in the early stages of a campaign to use Geale as proof positive that GGG belongs in the HOF?

Posted June 4, 2014 12:30 pm

give geale credit, tough night for him, but he has belief in himself. no one gives him a chance and he still takes the fight. credit where credit is due. i dont expect him to win, or even make the final bell, but i like his attitude.

Posted June 4, 2014 12:28 pm

Geale will get pealed… He’s a KO victim in waiting. Who is anyone kidding?

Another world champion bites the dust. So much for GGG not fighting anyone.

Posted June 4, 2014 12:09 pm

I knew it !!!.. WARD,, Andre Ward , I knew he would pop up soon and have something to do with this, shame on all three of em

Posted June 4, 2014 11:47 am

So when is the fastest star in boxing up his game or he has a pass on that by his many supporters.

Posted June 4, 2014 11:45 am

the next super star of boxing,i thought it was

Posted June 4, 2014 10:58 am

v8mach – spot on. GGG takes a fight with the third best middleweight on earth and somehow people are criticizing him for it. what the hell else do people want?

Posted June 4, 2014 10:51 am

Killing Moon The Soothsayer

Prolly the biggest fight available at 160 with Martinez fighting former Welters and Quillin staying away from top 10 fighters at MW…So not bad …Not bad at all…Anything else than a KO victory to Golovkin would be an upset IMO.

Posted June 4, 2014 10:43 am

DMX come on mate. don’t hate on geale just because he thrashed your man mundine. That’s the kind of thing we expect from hecdog, your better than that mate. oh and geale has a superb chin and excellent footwork

Posted June 4, 2014 10:42 am

R.I.P. Geale.

Posted June 4, 2014 10:41 am

Tinker bell

As much as I’d like to see it I just can’t imagine geale making much impression on 3G. He just needs to get caught a couple of times and he will be hunted down in early rounds I feel . Though if geale can be stoic and smart and extend the fight into later rounds , who knows what can happen when fatigue sets in.

Posted June 4, 2014 10:32 am

Good fight, a match up of different styles and a step up for Golovkin against a former champ. Fair dues to Danny Geale here. Geale’s a useful boxer, so he might pose Gennady some problems for a while, but 3G should stop him inside the distance because he’s too strong. A convincing win definitely boosts Golovkin’s middleweight credentials for sure. If only we could see GGG against Quillin afterwards too…

Big Martha Stanford

See the picture to he left of GGG. See that beautiful smile of the most handsome man on the planet. That’s my boy, thats my hero GGG or you can call him triple G. I love you sweetheart. Big fan here :)

Props to Geale ! ! ! and GGG.

It appears that, no matter who, nor how good you are, your going to cut down by forum posters world wide, GGG fights Geale, handpicked for GGG the cry, Geale vs ??? , Oh lordy lord look Geale ducking GGG etc etc etc… Two honest hard working pros that appear to be genuine on all fronts in and out of the ring?? yet still not good enough? we want more from you god damn it !.. The punches you take ,the pain endured in training, fight night and beyond , Still not enough ?? …Dont know why they even bother ………..

Golovkin was Strum’s mandatory for over 2 years. He never did get a title shot vs Strum. When he fought Geale the wba said that the winner had to face Golovkin. Geal won and chose to fight Mundine instead of facing Golovkin so they took his title. I understand the fight at home was a big money fight for Geale. It seems to have worked out good for him, big money from fighting mundine, and now a shot at Golovkin and the title that he had taken from him.

DJ Daz

I’m a big Daniel Geale fan, but he is really pushing $hit uphill to win this bout on paper as Golovkin is a skilled monster similar to Kostya Tszyu. With that said I think Geale is going to do a lot better in this bout than everyone thinks as he is not intimidated by Golovkin and has actively sought this bout. I consider Golovkin the top fighter in the middleweight division but I still shake my head when I think that he has not won his world title in the ring, technically he is still a paper champion and yet the WBA has elevated Golovkin to super champion in order to make this fight and keep Golvokin & HBO happy. It’s good to see an Australian fighter benefiting from boxing politics for a change (although Jarrod Fletcher is missing out on a mandatory shot at the title). Geale won the WBA title from Sturm and was stripped for taking a $2 million dollar fight with Anthony Mundine, a smart move to secure his financial future. Geale was not given an exemption like Golovkin is being given now and Golovkin has had 5 or 6 optional title defences since being handed the title on a silver platter. The real linear WBA champion should be Sam Soliman (Sam beat Sturm, who beat Barker who barely beat Geale). I so hope Geale shocks everyone and takes Golovkin’s title. Somehow I think I will be disappointed.

Agree Dick Tiger
That for me would pretty much be a undisputed Middleweight Champion again

I hope the winner of the match gets a fight with the winner of Martinez vs Cotto.

Posted June 4, 2014 8:24 am

fun fight. Geale gots good chin. Fun while it last. Golovkin wins by KO.

Posted June 4, 2014 8:16 am

Geale is Agressive
Does not hit very hard
Not the best footwork
Hangs around after unloading
Certainly does not have the best set of whiskers

He is the perfect “named” opponent for GGG to look spectacular against in a 4 Round demolition job

Posted June 4, 2014 8:07 am

The only chance that Geale has in this fight is to engage GGG at the onset of the fight. If the fight is prolonged, GGG’s power, unsurpassed ability to cut off the ring, tremendous endurance with KO power in both hands will be too much for Geale. Golovkin by KO or TKO in seven.

Posted June 4, 2014 7:39 am

Mr gav

A very good fight, and a test for both men. Either way GGG will have his critics after the fight. If he wins too easily then geale is just “second rate” if he struggles then he struggled against a “second rate” fighter. But geale is a proven talent in his prime and is going for the win. This is the competion we have all wanted for so long. I’m guessing GGG will win by late tko after a brave and competitive challenge from geale either way it’s gona be great fight well worth watching

Posted June 4, 2014 7:03 am

A good match up for GGG. Geal is a top notch opponent. Also glad to see this bout televised live by HBO; it helps the sport of boxing.

Posted June 4, 2014 7:03 am

The location of this bout being Madison Square Garden dose seem a little odd.

Posted June 4, 2014 6:51 am

geale has every chance of winning this. world class skillset, iron chin, very experienced, fearless. I think ggg will win, but this is no walk in the park

Posted June 4, 2014 6:45 am

boxing barlow

Geale is a half decent fighter. He’s no bum but he’s not top class either. I actually feel the middleweight division is pretty poor. Top ten guys like Geale, Barker (before he retired), Sturm, Soliman, Murray, Macklin, are pound for pound not the same quality as top ten guys in the super middle and welterwight divisions. GGG and Martinez are quality fighters but theres not really anyone else in the division. So whilst for the middleweight division the Geale fight is not a bad one I cant see it being a very competative fight.

Have a look on Box Recs
It will confirm what I tell you
He has been on the floor 6 x times in his career

Posted June 4, 2014 6:38 am

Another sad day for floyd dumb dumbs

DMX sorry buddy but geale has been put down once ever against mundine a 3 times world champ

Posted June 4, 2014 6:20 am

third world

ggg smack talkers and doubters are jealous or just in denial. he will beat them all.

Posted June 4, 2014 6:19 am

Mick the Marmalizer

This fight would have sold massively had it been staged in Australia!

Posted June 4, 2014 6:14 am

like ggg….he is one of the most exciting fighter these days….have him winning in the later rounds by tko/ko 8-10….geale is a worthy opponent but sadly will be called a bum after the fight

Posted June 4, 2014 6:12 am

Very tough fight for Geale, but I think he might do better than some expect.
GGG needs some better competition to get a fairer assessment of his true abilities.
Maybe a unification with Soliman.

How old is Hamster??? 6???

Eagle Eyes

Woop Woop, yeah whatever dude. Like anyone gives a damn about how a Deontay Wilder fan thinks that Golovkin is fake. You may not exhibit much in the brains department, but statements like that show some industrial sized nuts. You don’t just play at being a hypocrite, you jump in with both feet.

Posted June 4, 2014 5:40 am

GGG will win in 4 x Rounds or less
Daniel Geale has been on the floor at least 6 x times against journeymen

I like Geale,
Very brave, a nice guy and a honest pro but he is being advised very badly
He should be fighting a Home unification title fight with Sam Soliman
which would make him some money and is very winable for him

Instead he is on a painful slow walk to certain Armageddon

Posted June 4, 2014 5:34 am

Another sad day for floyd dumb dumbs

Geale is the best he has fought fool. He won’t hurt him any more than other fighter he has faced

Posted June 4, 2014 4:44 am

Turbo Hamster Salutes Geales Kangaroo balls

GGG is going to pick Geale apart, and seriously hurt him in this fight. He is technically significantly superior to Geale, and has the added bonus that Geales primary plus point is his workrate, meaning Geale HAS to exchange to stand any chance, he can`t steal rounds with running or backfoot boxing.

My respect for Geale has jumped here, he went to Germany twice, winning both times, he was unifying titles little over a year after winning his first, and now he is going after a stone cold killer, when the obvious target for him would have been Sam Soliman.

I just hope there is enough of Geale left to have a successful career at MW once GGG moves up, because things will be open when Martinez retires and GGG shifts divisions.

If Quillin is supposed to be the best of the rest, then it is open season.

Posted June 4, 2014 4:43 am

I have heard that GGG put Kovalev on his backside in sparring, a small middleweight putting a large light heavy on his backside means very very heavy hands.

Posted June 4, 2014 2:31 am

Although I am a Geale fan.. with the exception of the Barker fight he close to the busiest fighter out there , he has a huge workrate. I don’t think he will be standing at the end of this fight. GGG is too powerful. His ability to stalk and hunt will take away Geale’s advantage in footwork , GGG by KO late in the fight. Will woop woop then acknowledge his ability ? or will he continue to be upset by the Kazakhstani usurper and continue he diatribe of abuse…..I suspect the latter.

Posted June 4, 2014 2:30 am

We all know how Kovalev is good and triple G spar with him and he was beating him up surprise!!!!!!!

Posted June 3, 2014 11:12 pm

GGG Real Deal

GGG is a master boxer, not just a power puncher. Watch his feet and how he sets himself up. He cuts of the rink and has excellent defense. People overlook how skilled GGG is in the sweet science. Hope to see GGG get some top matches in the MW Division to see how he does. I anticipate GGG will dominate and move up in weight after he clears out the MW.

Posted June 3, 2014 10:37 pm

@ woop woop I like the way you put triple G like he’s nobody and a read your comments before you mad at him or some…yoh look like you don’t like the guy or you think his nobody?
