A shortage of big fights coming up
This will be a cracker

I’m surprised Mares took that fight, yes he’s the better overall fighter but styles makes fights and it wast like it was a lucky KO last time either. He looked like a little child next to Gonzalez the last time. I can see a brutal KO this time around, wont last 3 rounds

I missed the last one but for sure I’m going to this one @mad scientist me too bro I live a mile away from staples also. Got to give credit to mares for taking the rematch right away unlike that b*tch donaire making all kinds of excuses

I’m going with Mares again because he’s the better operator, the more resourceful & the mentally stronger. Mares is an incredibly tenacious little guy & he knows how to win. I agree with kid blast, Mares will keep his eyes in the prize this time…

Kid Blast

I meant “not due to hard luck.

JG is one of my favorites but his loss to Penalosa was due to hard luck (though he was ahead). It was due to one of the best body shots I have ever seen. Mares will win this one because he will not be looking ahead.

I’m about 45 minutes from the Staples Center…I may just have to attend this one. I think Gonzalez’s style is ALL WRONG for Mares, he’s tall, rangy and has very good power…three advantages he knows how to use VERY well, if he can keep his range and box from the outside…I don’t see Mares getting in there without getting hit. Also, Mares is used to being able to get aggressive, he now knows that against Gonzalez that isn’t really a smart move. It’s going to be a great fight.

Fight Aficionado

Ah, a nice rumble and the tickets are reasonably priced. Might have to fly to LA for this one. The only fights we get in the SF Bay are Ward cards in Oakland with horrible undercards with seats that cost more money.

i was at their first bout and the outcome was unexpected to say the least. not that Gonzalez isn’t a worthy opponent. i was anticipating a possible upset but not a first-round KO. i agree that Mares will be a bit more cautious and respectful in the rematch. Gonzalez is a very tough customer with “Pop!” in both fists and after hard-luck losses to the likes of Vasquez and Penalosa in otherwise winning performances, Jhonny’s not relinquishing his grip on this primetime belt any time soon.

I bet Mares is more prepared second time around. More respectful too

Different fight, same result. Jhonny ain’t giving that belt up.
