Billy Joe Saunders – Jarrod Fletcher on September 14th

Billy Joe Saunders will defend his Commonwealth Middleweight title against Australian rival Jarrod Fletcher at Wembley Arena on Friday 14th September.

The fight will be televised live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).

It will be an explosive battle to see who’s ‘0’ goes with Saunders and Fletcher both holding undefeated records.

The dynamite-fisted Saunders, 22, won the title in a lightning 30 seconds at the Royal Albert Hall in April against Tony Hill and made a successful first defence against Bradley Pryce with a points win last month.

Hatfield traveler Saunders, who was the youngest representative at the Beijing Olympics, has run up a 14-0 record with 9 stoppages since turning professional in 2009.

“Left Jab” Fletcher, from Hervey Bay in Queensland, is unbeaten in twelve with seven coming early.

The 28-year-old won the Australian middleweight title in February with a points win over Johannes Mwetupunga and defended the title against Les Piper in April.

Saunders is excited to be facing a dangerous talent like Fletcher and believes it will make him rise to the occasion.

“This is a good test for me at this stage of my career before I move up another level,” Said Saunders.

“When I’ve got a test in front of me it makes me train harder and brings the best out of me like you saw against Hill who was a top amateur and had never been stopped as a pro and I went straight through him,”

“Fletcher has got me excited with his unbeaten record and he looks like he can punch a bit, I’m looking forward to seeing if he’ll be able to take my shots. I want to be the first to make a black mark on his record,”

“He’s also an Aussie that adds a bit of spice to our fight with England’s rivalry against Australia coming up in big sporting events, but I’ll never to lose to an Aussie and the title is staying here.”

An action packed card also features British and Commonwealth Super-Middleweight Champion George Groves against Kenny Anderson (subject to purse bids) and Bradley Skeete v Chas Symonds for the Vacant Southern Area Welterweight title.

Also in action will be hard-hitting London super-middleweight Frank Buglioni who continues his meteoric rise in a four round contest as he looks to take his record to 6-0, plus light-welterweight Gary Corcoran and featherweight Mitchell Smith.

Tickets, priced at £40, £50, £75 and £100, are available from the Wembley Arena Box Office on 0844 815 0815 or online at www.wembleyarena.co.uk
