Who should Amir Khan fight next?

By Vitali Shaposhnikov: As always, whispers, speculations, and possible future bouts were circling through the air on July 23, 2011, as Amir Khan (26-1-0) raised his hand in victory after knocking out Zab Judah (41-7-0) in the fifth round of their fight.

Who will Amir fight next? When will Amir fight next? What does this victory mean for team Khan? These I’m sure were only some of the questions that the fans were curious to have solid answers to.

Timothy Bradley (27-0-0) was of course a name being mentioned for Amir’s next possible opponent. Personally, I think that it would be a very interesting and intriguing fight. While I would pick Khan to win, I would expect to see much more from Bradley than I did from an old used up Judah.

Another name that I have heard being mentioned on TV and seen all over boxing forums, is Floyd Mayweather Jr. (41-0-0). Boxing fans are voicing that now, after convincingly beating Judah, Khan is more than ready to step inside the ring with Floyd. At the very same time, many of the same people were claiming that Floyd is terrified of Khan, and would do anything to avoid the fight.

Floyd is scared of Pacquiao. Floyd is scared of Khan. Floyd was scared of Mosley. Floyd is scared of anyone who could possibly beat him and make him lose his spotless unblemished record. Those who agree with the above statements please tell me, who is Floyd not scared of?

Would Floyd really be impressed with Khan beating an old, and practically shot Zab Judah? Let’s not assume and speculate here. Amir Khan is most evidently a tremendous fighter on the right path, but with very slight if any at all indication that he poses a threat to Mayweather Jr.

What happens when the widely unappreciated Floyd convincingly dominates Victor Ortiz (29-2-2) in a few months time? At that point, we will all be back to square one divided: Floyd beat an easy target; or Floyd is great and only Pacquaio poses a realistic threat.

Who should Khan fight next? I think Bradley is the best option for both men.

Who should Mayweather fight next? Obvious.
