Freddie Roach Gives Prediction on Minto – Holmes fight

Butler, PA – 2008 Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach has been on quite a roll lately guiding fighters and predicting outcomes. While training pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao, Roach has correctly predicted the verdict in each of his last two fights. Now working with Butler, Pennsylvania heavyweight Brian Minto in preparation for his clash with the undefeated Donnell Holmes on August 14th (NESportsTV.com PPV, $10 USD, Conversion rates apply out of country), Roach is hoping that his premonition is right again..

“I think Brian will win by knockout in the later rounds”, said Roach recently.

Roach’s notoriety for predicting fights came after Manny Pacquiao demolished the heavily favored Oscar De La Hoya through eight brutally one sided rounds in 2008. Roach predicted that Pacquiao would stop De La Hoya in nine rounds.

In Pacquiao’s next bout, Roach said that the Filipino fighter would stop then junior welterweight champion Ricky Hatton within three rounds. Pacquiao then knocked Hatton out cold within two.

“We’re going to break (Holmes) body down early”, Roach said discussing the game plan for the fight, then making the claim that the KO will come in the later rounds.

The fight will be broadcast worldwide via PPV webstream at both www.NESportsTV.com and www.Mintofight.com. The PPV costs $10 USD. Equal conversion rates apply worldwide. The bout will be available both live and on archived on demand video. Visit www.Mintofight.com now to listen to prefight audio interviews with Brian Minto, Donnell Holmes and Freddie Roach.

Freddie Roach & Brian Minto Team up for fight this Friday on NESportsTV.com

Butler, PA – When heavyweight Brian Minto (33-2, 21 KO’s) steps into the ring on August 14th (NESportsTV.com PPV, $10 USD, conversion rates apply outside US) against Ivanhoe, North Carolina’s Donnell Holmes (31-0-2, 27 KO’s), he’ll have a new trainer in his corner: 2008 Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach. “I just took a shot and called him and said ‘hey” and told him my deal and my record and asked if you mind if I come out and train? He said I’d love to have ya”, said Minto recently, adding “We hit it off with a good relationship. Freddie is a great trainer but other than that he’s a good person.”

Roach currently trains pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and junior welterweight titleholder Amir Khan.

Roach said about training Minto, “We’re trying to work on his angles a little bit more instead of standing in front of people and trading with them and just improving his all around game.”

Roach has previously worked with noteworthy heavyweights including current heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko, former champ Mike Tyson, and former heavyweight title challenger James Toney. He’s also worked with world champions in lower weight classes such as Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins.

While working with Roach, Minto has regularly been sparring with top cruiserweight Ola Afolobi. Top notch sparring he hopes will pay off August 14th.

“He’s like James Toney times ten he’s so slick”, said Minto of Afolobi, “I know Donnell doesn’t have that slickness at all. He’s a pretty basic guy.”

However, Holmes doesn’t seem too concerned with Minto’s new trainer.

“That doesn’t really mean anything to me”, said Holmes, “I don’t worry about who’s outside the ring, just who’s in the ring.”
