PHILADELPHIA, PA (October 11, 2004) – CN8, The Comcast Network gets in the ring, airing an exclusive two hour boxing card from Philadelphia’s New Alhambra Sports and Entertainment Center on SUNDAY, October 17, 9:00-11:00 PM/ET. The main event features a 10-round junior middleweight battle between Philadelphia’s Aslanbek Kodzoev and Hartford’s Julio Cesar De La Cruz, followed by an 8-round semifinal between junior welterweights Chucky T, of Philadelphia and Jimmy LeBlanc, of Boston, MA.
Headlining the main event is Kodzoev, a 23 year-old Philadelphia native. He scored his biggest career win when he earned a unanimous 8-round decision over previously undefeated Rasheem Brown on May 1, 2004. The fight improved Kodzoev’s record to 13-1-2 with eight knockouts.
Kodzoev’s contender for the junior middleweight battle is De L Cruz, a 28-year-old Hartford resident who is originally from the Dominican Republic. He has a 15-3-1 record, 14 KOs, and has fought some of the best at 154 pounds.
The semifinal featuring Chucky T from Philadelphia and Jimmy LeBlanc from South Boston plus six preliminaries round out the boxing card broadcast. During 27-year-old Chucky T’s last visit to the New Alhambra on June 18, 2004, he knocked out “Cocky” Kevin Watts in only two rounds. Chucky T has a 24-8-1 record with 13 knockouts. LeBlanc, 30, had a draw during his last fight on August 10, 2004, against Shaki Moore. Previous to that fight, he triumphed William Foster in Boston.
LeBlanc’s record is 10-6-4 with three knockouts. Legendary boxing promoter J. Russell Peltz is
the producer of this CN8 event, which will be taped from the October 15th boxing event.
