“Yory Boy” Campas headlines ‘Night of the Gladiators’

03.02.04 – Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions, the premier boxing promoter in Chicago, in association with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Incorporated presents Night of the Gladiators, another explosive evening of action packed professional boxing on Friday, February 27th at the DePaul Athletic Center, 2323 N. Sheffield Ave. With 8 Count Productions drawing over 2100 local boxing enthusiasts to its most recent show last Friday night and this card expected to sellout, fight fans are encouraged to purchase tickets, starting at $25 in advance by calling 312-226-5800.

Headlining this card is the first ever Chicago appearance by former junior middleweight champion of the world, Luis “Yory Boy” Campas in a ten round bout against tough Roberto Baro. Mexican legend Campas has always had huge TV ratings in Chicago and is said to be very excited about his first ever visit tothe Windy City.

Also on this huge card is the return of the hottest junior welterweight prospect in the boxing world, undefeated fan favorite Al “Speedy” Gonzales in a highly anticipated match against tough Las Vegas native Jessie Feliciano. The badass Puerto Rican Feliciano returns to Chicago for the second time in six months having destroyed Jermaine Marks in October of last year. (Fight fans are encouraged to check their local TV listings as the Feliciano/Marks match is being rebroadcaston Fox Sports Channel during the month of February.) The Gonzales/Feliciano fighthas Gatti/Ward-like brawl written all over it as both combatants are known for their previous wars inside the squared circle.

Also featured on the card is the return of junior middleweight “Classy” Freddie Cuevas. Cuevas, conqueror of former world champions Charles “The Natural” Murray and Wilfredo Rivera, is looking for a bout against any of the top junior middleweights, although neither WBO Champion Daniel Santos or highly rated Bronco McKart seem interested in taking the test against the tough as nails Cuevas who has publicly called out both.

Both local fan favorites welterweight Luciano “El Gallo Bravo” Perez and “Macho” Miguel Hernandez return to DePaul following big knockouts this past Friday night that had the huge crowd roaring with approval. Both Perez and Hernandez will be featured in six round bouts.

Making his pro debut is middleweight amateur standout Chicagoan Trinidad Garcia in a scheduled four rounder.
