Ryan Garcia Tells Keyshawn Davis He Made Huge Mistake Passing On Devin Haney Fight

Ryan Garcia believes Keyshawn Davis made the wrong decision by declining a fight with Devin Haney, arguing that a shot at the WBO welterweight title carried more value than the money dispute that ended the matchup.

Garcia made his feelings clear with a brief post on X after Davis withdrew from the ordered title fight.

“Keyshawn should’ve took the fight with Devin. Big opportunity and denied it for money. Disappointed,” said Ryan on X.

Reports indicate Davis turned down a 3 million dollar offer before the WBO proceeded with a purse bid. Under the sanctioning body’s 75 to 25 split in Haney’s favor as champion, Davis’ share would have fallen to approximately 2.13 million dollars. Davis reportedly sought 5 million dollars net after management fees, leaving the sides too far apart to reach an agreement.

Ryan viewed the situation through a different lens. Beating Haney would have earned Davis the WBO welterweight title while strengthening his position for future negotiations.

Their rivalry remains one of boxing’s most talked-about storylines after their April 2024 bout was changed to a no contest following Ryan’s failed drug tests. That history has not changed his view that Davis should have accepted the title opportunity instead of allowing the fight to fall apart.
