Garcia teased a Las Vegas showdown with Conor Benn during a livestream, though questions remain about whether the date is finalized

Ryan Garcia appeared to tease a Sept. 12 fight against Conor Benn during a livestream this week while mocking the British welterweight directly on camera. The comments quickly spread across boxing social media, although uncertainty remains about whether Garcia actually confirmed the fight date himself.

“My next fight is September 12,” Garcia said on X during the livestream. “I can’t announce it yet, but there are some people from the UK that need an ass-whooping.”

Garcia later added, “It’s gonna be in Vegas at T-Mobile. You hear that, Conor Bum? My guy is gonna walk me out. Go get a goofy from England to walk you out.”

The clip quickly spread online after being reposted by Boxing n BBQ, with many fans treating the comments as confirmation that Garcia and Benn are set to fight later this year. Some viewers questioned whether Garcia clearly confirmed the Sept. 12 date himself or whether people around him during the stream pushed the discussion in that direction.

The timing would place a Garcia-Benn fight on the same day that Canelo Alvarez is scheduled to face Christian Mbilli in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during Mexican Independence Day weekend.

Benn’s manager, Keith Connolly, recently confirmed that negotiations remain active but cautioned that the fight is not finalized.

“We’re in the middle of negotiating [Garcia-Benn], along with some other big fights,” Connolly said to Boxing News. “I could see it happening; I could see it falling apart, but we’re targeting that fight right now.”

Garcia has previously announced potential opponents and dates before deals were completed. Earlier this year, he publicly discussed a fight with Teofimo Lopez that never materialized.
