Albright called Davis “unprofessional” after the hometown fighter came in over the limit ahead of Saturday’s rematch

Nahir Albright accused Keyshawn Davis of acting unprofessionally Friday after Davis missed weight ahead of their rematch at Scope Arena in Norfolk. The controversy immediately renewed questions about Davis continuing at 140 pounds after another difficult cut and another delayed weigh-in.

Keyshawn came in at 140.1 pounds for the scheduled 140-pound fight. Albright made weight on his first attempt.

“Yeah, it’s weird, bro. Unprofessional,” Albright said to Fighthype after the weigh-in.

Albright also questioned the delays during the weigh-in process and believed Keyshawn’s team was buying extra time for the hometown fighter.

“It’s a sign,” said Albright.

“They’re stalling so he can try to make the weight. So he had to be waiting. That’s weird.”

Despite the controversy, Albright confirmed the fight is still expected to move forward on Saturday night.

“Yeah, the fight going to go on,” Albright said when asked if he would still take the rematch.

Albright later pointed to discipline and preparation when discussing the difference between himself making weight and Keyshawn missing.

“It’s not hard for me to make weight,” said Albright.

“I just do what I got to do, make the sacrifice I need to make, and I always come ready and that’s it.”

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum also addressed the situation and compared it to Keyshawn previously missing weight by more than four pounds before his canceled fight against Edwin De Los Santos.

“That was inexcusable because he missed weight by 5 lbs,” Arum said.

“Now here he’s missed weight by 0.1, which he’ll take off and come in under 140 or under.”

“But yeah, he’s going to have trouble as he goes forward at 140.”

Last year, Keyshawn was stripped of the WBO lightweight title after coming in more than four pounds over the limit for his planned defense against Edwin De Los Santos.

The two fighters first met in Texas in October 2023. Keyshawn originally won the fight by majority decision before the result was later overturned following a positive marijuana test.
