Former 2x IBF super featherweight champion Malcolm Klassen (30-6-2, 16ko), who many fans may best remember from his 2009 fight with “The Ghost” Robert Guerrero, is ready to get his career back on track at top level and is seeking a fight with big-hitting Commonwealth lightweight champion Richard Commey (22-0, 20ko).

South Africa’s Klassen has suffered various periods of inactivity in the years following the loss to Guerrero, but is now with a new team in MGM Marbella and Preston based trainer/manager Johnney Roye and is raring to go.

The 33 year old former champion has had a couple of good wins this year – most notably against experienced Namibian former world champion Paulus Moses, and is scheduled be out again on September 12th in Preston, England against a TBA opponent.

The Sauerland promoted Commey, as well as his handlers, have been approached directly on social media by Klassen’s team, although they are still waiting on a reply as at time of writing.

“I’ve said I’m going to become world champion again and I will,” Klassen told me.

“I think a fight with Commey will be great for the fans. I’m staying in the gym and I’m working hard. I believe in doing that and working hard and it always gives me the results I want.

“I just hope they agree to fight me. The fight has been suggested to his manager but Johnney (Roye) is still waiting to hear back. I’m keeping my fingers crossed because I know from the bottom of my heart that he will never beat me.

“I honestly believe that very soon I will become a world champion again.”
