No Limit Boxing confirmed Charlo’s bout with Koen Mazoudier has been canceled after Australian authorities refused his visa application
Jermall Charlo has been removed from the July 26 PBC pay-per-view card in Sydney after Australian authorities denied his visa application. No Limit Boxing confirmed his scheduled bout with Koen Mazoudier has been canceled while the promotion searches for a replacement opponent.
“Due to the Australian Government’s decision to deny his visa, Jermall Charlo is unable to travel to Australia. As a result, his scheduled bout against Koen Mazoudier will no longer take place. We are currently working through replacement options and will provide an update as soon as possible,” said No Limit on X.
The visa denial adds another lengthy delay to Charlo’s already inactive career.
Earlier Friday, Dan Rafael reported that PBC and TGB officials did not expect Charlo’s visa to be approved because of his legal history in the United States. Australia’s immigration laws allow authorities to refuse entry to non-citizens who fail the country’s character requirements.
Jermall wants the big fights, but his inactivity is working against him. Recently, he’s talked about wanting to fight Caleb Plant, a fighter dealing with inactivity of his own after losing two of his last three fights.
Missing another scheduled fight won’t make it any easier to convince promoters or fellow contenders that he belongs at the front of the line for another marquee opportunity. It’s unclear when Jermall’s next opponent will be picked out and when the fight will take place.
