Floyd Mayweather again boasts about his wealth, calls people talking about his ring return “Backseat drivers – the joke’s on you”

Retired superstar Floyd Mayweather is annoyed at the way certain people involved in the sport continue to talk about, and call for, his ring return. Every week or so, a story breaks suggesting “Money,” now aged 39 and having last fought over 14 months ago, will return to the squared circle soon. But Mayweather, who has said again and again that he is content in retirement, sure seems to mean what he says.

Just yesterday, Mayweather put out a message on social media, in which he both ridicules those people who continue to talk about him returning for fight number-50, and boasts about his incredible wealth.

“Gotta love these backseat drivers so worried about another man’s legacy instead of trying to write their own,” Mayweather messaged. “Ultimately, I will always have the last laugh. This (attached photo of an enormous check) is just one of my many checks, a cool $100,000,000.00 that I still have every dime of. Y’all still have to work however, I’m happily retired. At the end of the day, it’s them Benjamin Franklins that matter to me, so the joke’s on you.

“I’ve made smart investments, sorry for those who thought that I couldn’t read, write, or count. Y’all call them watches, I call the time pieces. Y’all call them boats, I call them yachts. Y’all call them houses, I call them mansions. Y’all charter jets and we own jets.”

Are you feeling happy for Mayweather yet!? Thought not. Why does Mayweather feel the need to brag and boast about his enormous wealth, rubbing it in the noses of the many millions of people who are struggling financially? There is such a thing as class and its no wonder many fans feel this is a commodity Mayweather has very little of. Mayweather will also always come up short in terms of the love, respect and affection he has from fight fans.

Imagine an Ali or a Sugar Ray (either the original and best or Leonard) bragging and boasting about their mansions, yachts and time pieces! At least Floyd has closed the door on any 50th fight. As happy, as rich (call it filthy rich) and as content as Mayweather is, he will not be risking anything by taking a fight at the age of 40.

Mayweather earned his money the hard way, so he is entitled to it. But do we really need to hear about it, again and again, and again?
