Conah Walker Stops Sam Eggington in Round 10 After Hard Fight

Body shot and heavy attack turn fight as Walker forces stoppage in Wolverhampton

Conah Walker (18-3-1, 9 KOs) stopped Sam Eggington (36-10, 20 KOs) in the 10th round at 1:59 in Wolverhampton. After a close start, Walker took control in the middle rounds and finished the fight with sustained pressure.

The opening half was tight and physical. Eggington, the more seasoned fighter, found success with short uppercuts and inside work, edging several exchanges while Walker had flashes, including knocking out Eggington’s mouthpiece in the second round. The pace stayed heavy, with both men trading at close range and neither giving ground.

Walker began to take control in the middle rounds. He forced Eggington back in the sixth and increased his output, landing in bursts along the ropes. Cuts developed on both sides, with Eggington marked over both eyes and Walker cut between the eyes. The turning point came in the eighth, when Walker dropped Eggington with a body shot for an eight-count. Eggington recovered and continued to engage, but the pressure was starting to tell.

The ninth round remained competitive but fought almost entirely at close quarters, with Eggington’s resistance fading as Walker maintained the higher work rate.

Walker closed the show in the 10th. A right hand hurt Eggington and stiffened his legs, and Walker followed with a sustained attack. Referee Steve Gray stepped in at 1:59 as Eggington moved forward without effective defense, ending the bout.

The contest was a non-title 12-round fight at 154 pounds. Walker, fighting in front of a strong hometown crowd, adds another stoppage win after his late knockout of Pat McCormack and moves forward with increased visibility at domestic level. Eggington, known for his willingness to trade, absorbed heavy punishment in the closing rounds but remained engaged until the stoppage.

On the undercard, Bilal Fawaz retained his British and Commonwealth super welterweight titles with a ninth-round stoppage of Ryan Kelly.
