Paul claimed he secured a massive offer for the fight before Canelo appeared to dismiss the proposal on Instagram

Jake Paul says he secured a $200 million offer for a fight with Canelo Alvarez, but the Mexican star appeared to mock the proposal shortly afterward on social media. Canelo posted laughing emojis on Instagram after Paul publicly pushed for the crossover boxing match during a livestream.

Paul said during a recent livestream that he had spoken to Canelo directly and believed the fight could still happen despite Alvarez already being lined up for another major event later this year.

“Canelo, I have the $200m for you. Easy money. Jake Paul vs Canelo. Let’s get it done,” said Paul. “This is what the fans have been waiting for; this is the biggest fight that can possibly be made in boxing. I think that’s going to be the next fight.”

Canelo did not respond publicly with a statement, but he appeared to dismiss the idea through an Instagram story shortly after Paul’s comments started circulating online. Alvarez posted three laughing emojis, which many took as a reaction to the proposed fight and the reported figure attached to it.

The two sides had previously been linked to a fight in 2025 before Turki Alalshikh signed Canelo to a Riyadh-backed deal that changed his schedule. Alvarez later regained undisputed status against William Scull before losing his super middleweight titles to Terence Crawford by unanimous decision last September.

Crawford has since retired, and Canelo is now expected to return in September against Christian Mbilli in Saudi Arabia after Mbilli’s draw with Lester Martinez earlier this month.

Paul has continued to pursue high-profile boxing events following the streaming success of his fight against Mike Tyson. However, questions still remain about his future in the sport after he suffered a knockout loss and jaw injury against Anthony Joshua in December 2025.
