Bob Arum, in an interview with FightHype, has said that pound for pound figher and four weight world champion Juan Manuel Marquez is in the process of testing out his knee and checking to see how the rehabilitation is going. Arum said that it would be in the next few months that an announcement would be made as to whether Marquez would be able to continue his boxing career, despite wanting to fight on and win that fifth world title and break the record for mexican boxers.

Bob Arum brought up Kell Brooks name immediately when asked about a potential opponent for Marquez. Eddie Hearn has been brining up Marquezas an opponent time and time again in interviews so it was refreshing to hear that there is interest on their side also. Marquez vs Brook for the IBF title in the summer is certainly a bout they are looking for and is a fight which is great for boxing.

If Marquez were to win that fight then he will become the first Mexican boxer in history to win titles in five weight classes. If Brook wins then we have an undefeated champion in the biggest division in boxing with wins over both an undefeated young fighter in Porter, his mandatory challenger in Jo Jo Dan and a legitimate hall of famer in Marquez. Exciting for the fans either way.

At the end of the interview Arum discussed another fighter he promotes in Brandon Rios. Rios will be back before the end of June, Timothy Bradley and Miguel Cotto were mentioned as potential opponents, although that is not confirmed.
