How excited, thrilled with anticipation, are you, fellow fight fan, about this coming weekend – May 2? We will see, as you know, two big, big fights go down, one in Las Vegas, one in Tokyo, Japan.

No fan can possibly be at both fights, but we sure can tune in and watch both potential classics, indeed, epics! What a great date, May 2 of 2026, may go down as in this still-great sport of ours.

We kind of know what we’ll get in both super-fights. In the guaranteed slugfest that is “The Mexican Monster” against “Zurdo,” we will be treated to, well, a slugfest. It’s that simple. These two proud, almost always exciting gunslingers will unload some massive bullets, they will
trade in close for long periods, and the heart and desire of both warriors will be tested hard. It could even be that Benavidez and Ramirez each give us their career-best fight/performance on May 2.

But who wins?

It’s tougher than tough to go against Benavidez, 31-0(25), even if he is going up in weight. But who can count out Ramirez, 48-1(30)?

This one goes all the way; it elevates both men, but Benavidez gets the close win that breaks Ramirez’s heart. Benavidez by split decision.

Over in Japan, in what is, quite simply, THE biggest, perhaps greatest fight in the history of Japanese boxing (so far, at least), we will be mesmerized by the duel skills that belong to Inoue and Nakatani. These two rivals – both unbeaten, this at 32-0(27) and 32-0(24) respectively – have been circling one another for some time, this while we fans looked ever forward to the lay it all on the line showdown they both signed on for, no messing, no ducking or dodging. This fight could prove to be a chess match of the highest order, mind you. Or might “The Monster” and “Big Bang” shock and shake us by engaging in an extremely violent two-way shootout of their own?

Who wins?

It’s massively hard to bet on Inoue’s demise in any fight. But Nakatani, an equally supremely gifted boxer who has brains, brawn, power, speed, accuracy, heart, a very real desire to become an all-time great…..you know, all the stuff Inoue has got. Well, it’s tough to bet against Junto, too.

This fight too goes all the way, with an Inoue knockdown scored along the way, with Japan’s finest ever fighter walking away with a close but unanimous decision win.

Two massive fights, both seeing four in their prime warriors going at it. Has there ever been a better upcoming boxing weekend?
