Anthony Joshua Netflix Series Hinges On Fury Result

Anthony Joshua has reportedly signed a £10 million deal for a four-part Netflix documentary, but its planned release after his fight with Tyson Fury leaves the company taking a risk. A Joshua victory would give the series its strongest ending. A one-sided defeat could reduce fans’ interest before it reaches the screen.

The Sun reports that the series is expected next spring, covering Joshua’s early legal troubles, his defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr., and the loss of friends Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele in last December’s fatal car crash in Nigeria. The details come from unnamed sources.

Joshua faces Fury on December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, with Netflix broadcasting the fight. The platform could therefore have both the live event and a documentary giving viewers a closer look at one of its headliners.

The release timing means the completed series would not help build an audience for December. Instead, Netflix would be relying on viewers wanting to revisit Joshua’s preparation after knowing how the fight ended.

That would be easier to sell if Joshua wins. Fans could watch his preparation with renewed interest in his career, particularly if the performance creates demand for another major fight. The documentary would arrive with Joshua enjoying the attention that comes from beating his longtime rival.

A competitive defeat or controversial decision could also help sustain interest. If viewers believe Joshua deserved to win, or want to see a rematch, there would still be unfinished business when the series appears.

The bigger risk is Fury beating him comfortably. Some boxing fans may have little appetite for several episodes building toward a fight that left them questioning whether Joshua should continue.

His personal story could still attract viewers beyond boxing, and defeat does not automatically make a documentary less compelling. But ideally for Netflix, Joshua wins and leaves fans wanting more. The cameras can follow his preparation; they cannot guarantee the ending that would make the series easiest to sell.
