Tyson Fury Sees Ben Davison “Crying His Eyes Out”

Tyson Fury expects to leave Ben Davison “crying his eyes out” as Anthony Joshua suffers another knockout defeat. His forecast includes repeated knockdowns and the trainer entering the ring with a towel to rescue Joshua after the damage is already done.

For their December 11 fight in Cardiff, Fury is selling a finish that humiliates both fighter and corner. Joshua takes the punches, while Davison gets the emotional supporting role in Fury’s version of the night.

“It’s going to end with a devastating KO,” Fury told The Ring. “Joshua will go down two or three times and not get back up again. Or maybe even Ben Davison crying his eyes out, jumping in the ring with a towel.”

Fury suggested the intervention would be an attempt to save face after Joshua had already been caught. He leaves Davison with two outcomes in that scenario: watch Joshua stay down or step in with the fight beyond rescue.

Joshua’s stoppage defeat against Daniel Dubois gives the taunt something concrete to feed on. Dubois repeatedly dropped him before finishing him in the fifth round. Davison was in Joshua’s corner that night, so Fury is directing the insult at a partnership that has already experienced the kind of collapse he describes.

The concern for Joshua is how he responds when clean punches interrupt his offense. Davison can prepare him to control distance and avoid exchanges, but those instructions become harder to follow once Joshua is hurt and trying to recover under pressure.

Fury still has to produce that pressure. Promising several knockdowns requires him to find openings, commit to his punches and accept the risk of Joshua firing back. His confidence in winning a shootout does not make it a sensible route.

He also claimed he could beat Joshua by boxing, countering or attacking on the front foot. Those options give Fury room to adjust, although the devastating knockout promise raises expectations that he will force the action.

The image of Davison crying with a towel is designed to linger. Fury wants Joshua anticipating another stoppage and his trainer thinking about when he might have to intervene.
