The unbeaten WBC interim heavyweight champion says he may enter the ring Saturday night to challenge the Usyk-Verhoeven winner

Agit Kabayel says he could step directly into the ring Saturday night to challenge Oleksandr Usyk after the heavyweight title fight against Rico Verhoeven in Egypt. The unbeaten German contender believes the moment may finally be approaching for the WBC title shot he has waited months to receive.

“When the winner, I think Uszyk, wins the fight, maybe I go in the ring and I say, ‘Let’s do it for the fans. We give the fans a good fight,’” said Kabayel to DAZN Boxing about potentially entering the ring after Saturday’s main event to call out the winner.

“But we will see.”

Kabayel has repeatedly pushed for a title shot and is already positioned as the WBC mandatory challenger. A victory for Usyk over Verhoeven would immediately bring attention back to the unbeaten German, especially after Turki Alalshikh recently floated Istanbul as a possible destination for one of Usyk’s future fights.

“I wait so long for this situation, but I think why not at the end of the year in Germany in a stadium,” said Kabayel.

“But I think the German fans and so many people have waited for this fight for so much. This is very interesting.”

“When the world understands how big Germany is in boxing, we will see.”

Kabayel has quietly become one of the more difficult heavyweights to ignore after recent wins pushed him into the mandatory position. Saturday’s main event may determine whether he finally gets the opportunity he has been waiting for.
