Rodriguez-Hlatshwayo, Andrade-Greenleaf on August 1st

On August 1st, Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing brings world championship boxing back to the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, CT when Star Boxing’s Delvin Rodriguez (24-2-2, 14KO) takes on Isaac Hlatshwayo (28-1-1, 10KO) for the vacant IBF Welterweight championship of the world. The bout between Rodriguez (IBF #2) and Hlatswhayo (IBF #3) will be a rematch of their highly entertaining draw that took place back in November of 2008.

For the second time in a row, jr. middleweight prospect Demetrius Andrade (5-0, 4KO), the 2007 amateur world champion and 2008 U.S. Olympian will be featured on the undercard of a Delvin Rodriguez show. On March 6th Rodriguez defeated Shamone Alvarez in the main event bout of the evening on ESPN2’s “Friday Night Fights” telecast. That same night, Andrade opened the nationally televised show with a spectacular first round annihilation of Tom Joseph. This time around Andrade will square off against veteran Chad Greenleaf in his first scheduled six rounder.

The 21-year-old Andrade, who is co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, has been one of the most talked about young prospects in boxing since he first turned pro back in October of 2008. Four of Andrade’s five fights have been nationally televised, including three of them on ESPN2. This national exposure at such an early stage of his career is something Andrade is very grateful for.

“Joe and Artie are doing a great job of getting me exposure and getting my name out there,” stated Andrade. “I am happy with the way things have been going and look forward to putting on another sensational performance come August 1st.”

Andrade who lives in nearby Providence, Rhode Island, is really looking forward to fighting so close to home at the Mohegan Sun again.

“The first time I fought there I felt right at home. It’s great getting to fight so close to home, as it allows all my friends, fans and family to come out and witness my performance live and in person. I am really looking forward to August 1st and to adding another impressive victory to my growing resume.”
