Marvin Hagler Hits Hometown For Charity!

25.07.06 -Brockton, MA, – “Marvelous” Marvin Hagler, the former undisputed middleweight champion, and arguably one of the greatest fighters of all time, will return to his hometown of Brockton, Massachusetts this coming Saturday, July 29, for an amateur boxing tournament charity event. The Marvelous One comes home to the “City of Champions” for a one-of-a-kind fundraising event, featuring the best amateur boxing in New England. The event will kick-off at 2:00pm Saturday, July 29th at the historic Brockton Fairgrounds with the Family Fun Festival, to include an incredible array of food, entertainment, and activities for all ages..

The boxing event at the Fairgrounds Grandstand will open at 5:00pm. Boxing event goers will see the Rocky Marciano Exhibit courtesy of the Brockton Historical Society, and view exclusive never before seen footage of Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs. Willie Monroe from Marvin Hagler’s early career days and the private collection of Pit Perron.

Fans will have the opportunity to meet & greet Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Hall of Fame Trainer & Honorary Chair of the event Goody Petronelli, Manager Pat Petronelli, former champion Thomas Hearns, Hall of Fame Trainers Emanuel Steward & Lou Duva, Heavyweight Contender Kevin McBride, former boxing champions Tony DeMarco, Joe DeNucci, Vinny Paz, “Irish” Micky Ward, and many more!

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Marvelous Marvin Hagler Scholarship Fund at Massasoit Community College and the Brockton High School Athletics Save Our Sports.
