Vito Mielnicki Targets Lara, Adames and Bentley

Vito Mielnicki Jr. has named Erislandy Lara, Carlos Adames and Denzel Bentley as potential opponents after his decisive victory over Austin “Ammo” Williams.

Mielnicki dropped Williams during the opening round and controlled the remainder of their ten-round middleweight fight, winning 98–91 on all three scorecards. The result took his record to 24–1 with 13 knockouts.

“I want all the big fights,” Mielnicki said in a press release from Boxlab Promotions. “I want to keep earning my way up the rankings and put myself in position to fight for a world title. Lara, Adames, Bentley, are all on my radar.”

Each name would present a different test. Lara’s southpaw timing and economical counterpunching would make Mielnicki manage his lead foot while finding safe ways to initiate exchanges. Vito dictated the action against Williams with movement and accurate combinations, but Lara is far more comfortable drawing the lead and punishing predictable attacks.

Adames presents another challenge. His physical pressure and heavy punches at close range would make Vito defend while backing up. Mielnicki remained composed after hurting Williams, although setting the pace becomes much harder against a strong middleweight who keeps creating exchanges.

Bentley may offer the most realistic measuring stick. He is willing to trade at mid-range and can examine Mielnicki’s punch resistance without presenting Lara’s defensive craft. That type of fight would reveal how well Vito’s power and upper body strength have translated to the full middleweight division.

Mielnicki’s reaction to the first-round knockdown was encouraging. Instead of wasting energy chasing a quick stoppage, he returned to his boxing and dominated Williams over the remaining rounds.

There is still a question about his finishing ability. Williams survived the early trouble and completed all ten rounds despite repeatedly losing the exchanges. Mielnicki showed discipline, but future opponents may require him to produce more damaging offense instead of allowing him to settle into a comfortable rhythm.

The collection of regional titles also requires perspective. Mielnicki now owns secondary championships from the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF, but they do not guarantee a mandatory position or an ordered eliminator. They help promoters obtain rankings while leaving the sanctioning bodies considerable freedom in selecting title challengers.

Promotional politics may narrow his options further. Matchroom and Boxlab co-promote Mielnicki, while Lara and Adames have been associated with Premier Boxing Champions. Bentley has built his career largely within the British scene. None of the three fights is impossible, but naming opponents is easier than bringing the promoters and broadcasters together.

Williams represented a useful advance in competition. Lara, Adames or Bentley would show how close Mielnicki truly is to competing at the championship level.
