Fury revealed the unusual retirement goal while still preparing for a possible Anthony Joshua showdown later this year

Tyson Fury says he wants to stage a fight at Mount Everest Base Camp before retiring from boxing, adding another unusual chapter to the heavyweight star’s career. Fury revealed the idea while still expected to move toward a long-awaited fight against Anthony Joshua later this year.

Fury revealed the idea during an interview with Furocity, saying he wants to complete the trek to Everest Base Camp and then fight after arriving there. The former heavyweight champion has spoken repeatedly about retirement in recent years, but he is still expected to return for at least one more major fight before walking away from boxing.

“I want to fight at base camp of Mount Everest, I want to walk to base camp [then fight],” said Tyson Fury to Furocity.

“It’s something I want to do before I retire.”

The idea immediately drew reactions from fans online, many pointing to Fury’s long history of teasing fights, retirements, and unusual challenges that never fully materialized. An edited image attached to the post showed Fury wearing boxing gear inside a ring positioned at Everest Base Camp with the mountain visible in the background.

Everest Base Camp sits more than 17,500 feet above sea level and is reached through a multi-day trek in Nepal. The hike is considered achievable for beginners in good condition, but altitude sickness remains the biggest obstacle because of the thin air and long days of walking required to reach the camp.

Fury has not revealed whether the idea is tied to a real exhibition or promotional event, but it is the latest sign that he still wants to stay attached to boxing even while discussing retirement. Fury is expected to fight Anthony Joshua later this year after both heavyweights complete separate interim bouts this summer.
