Shakur Stevenson Nears Zuffa Boxing Deal After Move to 140 Pounds

Reported signing would place Stevenson alongside Conor Benn and Richardson Hitchins in Zuffa’s growing boxing roster

Shakur Stevenson is closing in on a reported deal with Zuffa Boxing after his move to the junior welterweight division. The signing would give the company another unbeaten name at 140 pounds and immediately expand its in-house fight options.

“140-pound titleholder Shakur Stevenson is finalizing a deal with Zuffa Boxing. Stevenson set to join Conor Benn as the most high-profile names in the Zuffa stable,” Chris Mannix posted on X.

Stevenson would enter the same orbit as recent Zuffa-linked names such as Conor Benn and Richardson Hitchins, giving the company several recognizable fighters between 140 and 147 pounds. With Devin Haney rumored to be signing with Zuffa for a colossal $100 million contract, that adds yet another potential chess piece to match against Shakur.

That could help Zuffa quickly build interest if the promotion decides to follow the UFC-style model it has repeatedly discussed since launching alongside Dana White and Turki Alalshikh.

A Stevenson-Benn fight would likely attract major attention because of Benn’s aggressive style and growing popularity in Britain. Stevenson against Hitchins could also become a natural matchup, given that both fighters have spent years around the same divisions and have frequently been compared by fans online.

The risk, however, is that matching those fighters against each other too early could damage the market value of whoever loses. Boxing has traditionally protected unbeaten records far more carefully than MMA, especially when large future purses are involved.

Zuffa still has to prove it can build a boxing roster over the long term, but adding Stevenson would immediately strengthen its position at 140 pounds and create several major fights under one banner
