Fabio Wardley vs. Daniel Dubois Tonight – DAZN Weigh In

Wardley weighs 242.2 pounds and challenges Dubois’ mentality as both heavyweights promise a knockout fight

Fabio Wardley questioned Daniel Dubois’ mentality after both heavyweights made weight for Saturday night’s world title fight. Wardley came in at 242.2 pounds, while Dubois scaled 251.7 and promised to “put him to sleep” once the bell rings.

The final media session turned into another verbal exchange between the two British heavyweights, with Wardley questioning Dubois’ mentality and Dubois repeatedly promising violence once the bell rings. Promoter Frank Warren also pushed the fight as a knockout battle between two punchers with a combined 95% stoppage ratio.

Wardley said Dubois’ past performances leave questions about which version of him will show up.

“I think that’s the question is that what am I facing here?” said Wardley to talkSport Boxing about Dubois. “I think we’ll find out on Saturday night because I stand by those words. It does vary. He does change from a two to a sometimes 6 7 8 9 whichever. In some performances, he has done well, but you take the Usyk fight, for example, he hasn’t done well.

“You take the Kevin Lerena fight, for example, he didn’t do well in that one either. Like yeah, okay, he come out and got the win. There was multiple times in that fight where he was taking knees without even being touched. Didn’t take a punch. Didn’t take nothing on the chin. Just went down and took a knee.”

Wardley also argued that he has already faced opponents with stronger overall skill sets than Dubois.

“Someone like Joseph Parker, for example, has got more experience and I managed to beat him. Justis Huni is quicker hands, quicker movement, quicker with his feet, and I managed to beat him. There’s people who have had different or better skill sets than Daniel in particular areas, and I’ve managed to get past,” said Wardley.

Dubois gave short answers throughout most of the session, but stayed firm with his message that he is coming to knock Wardley out.

“No, I’m ready to seek and destroy. You know, I’m ready to turn up, man. I’m on it,” said Dubois. “No, I’m ready for a fight. I’ve trained hard. I’m ready for a war. Let’s go, man. The talking’s done now. Let’s fight. It’s a fight, man. I’m going to put him to sleep tomorrow.”

Warren believes the matchup has all the ingredients for a dramatic heavyweight fight in front of a home crowd.

“We got all the ingredients. Two British fighters fighting for a world title in a British ring supported by British fans,” said Warren. “Got a 95% knockout ratio between the pair of you. Someone’s getting knocked out or battered to submission.”
