Jarrell Miller’s unanimous decision over Lenier Pero in a WBA eliminator has moved him back into contention for major heavyweight fights. The win in Las Vegas also strengthens his position in the market after years outside the top tier.

That was the logic behind Sergio Mora calling it a “career comeback” after Miller’s unanimous decision victory Saturday night in Las Vegas. Mora’s point was less about championships and more about earning power.

Miller outworked the unbeaten Lenier Pero over 12 rounds, winning by scores of 117-111, 117-111, and 115-113 in a WBA eliminator. He threw punches at a relentless pace and stayed on Pero long enough to turn the fight late.

Miller has already seen how one heavyweight event can change everything. In 2019, he was scheduled to challenge Anthony Joshua at Madison Square Garden in the biggest opportunity of his career. Reports at the time placed his guaranteed purse near $5 million, with added upside tied to pay-per-view and other terms.

That fight vanished after Miller failed multiple drug tests and was removed from the card. Andy Ruiz Jr. replaced him and upset Joshua, turning one late replacement into one of boxing’s biggest heavyweight surprises.

Since that setback, Miller has stayed known in the division but had not worked his way back into a major position until now.

Saturday’s win changed that picture. Heavyweight boxing has always rewarded names who can sell, talk, and come off a fresh result. Miller checks those boxes again.

He may still face skepticism from fans who remember the suspensions, and younger contenders carry cleaner routes toward titles. Even so, marketable heavyweights are always in demand.

That leaves Miller in range of lucrative options involving names such as Deontay Wilder, Joshua, or another major event needing a credible opponent with personality.

At 37, he may not have rebuilt his legacy, but he has rebuilt his price.
