Rolly Romero Predicts Ryan Garcia Dominates Conor Benn

The WBA welterweight champion called Conor Benn “free meat” while discussing the proposed September fight with Ryan Garcia

Rolando “Rolly” Romero does not believe Conor Benn belongs on Ryan Garcia’s level heading into their proposed September fight in Las Vegas. The WBA welterweight champion described Benn as “free meat” while predicting Garcia would beat him convincingly.

Ryan has since been linked to a September 12 title defense against Benn in Las Vegas. Benn moved closer to the fight after defeating Regis Prograis last month in a 150-pound catchweight bout despite not competing at welterweight since 2022.

“Do I believe Ryan Garcia truly wants to fight Conor Benn, and dislocate his jaw, because Conor Benn is the easiest [opponent] in boxing? Yes. Anyone would take the free meat,” said Romero during an interview with Pro Boxing Fans.

The comments continue the growing back-and-forth surrounding Ryan and Benn after Garcia revealed on The Jimmy Fallon Show earlier this week that the fight is expected to take place in Las Vegas.

Both fighters have also faced doping controversy in recent years. Ryan served a one-year suspension after testing positive for Ostarine following his no-contest against Devin Haney in April 2024. Benn previously failed two drug tests connected to his canceled 2022 fight with Chris Eubank Jr.

Rolly currently holds the WBA ‘Super’ welterweight title, but made it clear he does not view Conor as being on Ryan’s level heading into the proposed fight.
