Despite the fact that the rumors of a Mayweather Jr. vs. Pacquiao fight being signed by the end of the month are at their highest, Robert Garcia believes that the fight is not going to come to fruition.

“I don’t see that happening. There’s too much pride between both camps, promoters, TV networks. Mayweather wants the bigger chink and I think well-deserved. I just don’t see it happening,” stated Garcia in a recent interview with Hustle Boss.

While Garcia is right about pride being one of the main obstacles in the way of both cams, it is money that dictates the next step. With the significance of this fight dwindling down, so does the potential to make a bigger profit. If team Pacquiao agrees to a lower cut of the pie, this fight will probably be signed, and expect the most complicated and detailed contract in boxing history. From the boxing glove brand and size, to rematch clauses, everything will be spelled out with impending high penalties if any clause is broken.

“I don’t think it would be easy for either one of them. I think Mayweather wins a decision but it won’t be easy,” concluded Garcia.

Robert Garcia has extensive experience with his training his fighters against both Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. Both of his boxers lost, despite obvious efforts by Garcia to try and figure out a way to come out victorious.

Picking Mayweather Jr. is something that I didn’t see coming from Garcia, who clearly prefers a more aggressive approach to a boxing match, training his fighters in that very fashion. Pacquiao is as aggressive as boxers get; a fury ball in the ring. Mayweather Jr. happens to be on the other end of the spectrum; a reserved, calculating sniper.

Maybe Garcia is right. Maybe all these rumors are nothing but a very extravagant and vulgar hype. Only time, and a very short one at that, will tell.
