Errol Spence Jr. Hits Passport Issue Before July 25 Tim Tszyu Fight

A passport problem could delay Spence’s arrival in Australia, while Jermall Charlo is still awaiting visa approval for the Sydney card

Errol Spence Jr. may arrive late in Australia for his July 25 fight against Tim Tszyu after a passport issue delayed his travel plans. Jermall Charlo is also still awaiting visa approval, creating another travel concern for the Sydney event.

Australian boxing writer Anthony Cocks reported that Spence has encountered a passport problem that may postpone his trip for his comeback fight against Tszyu. Cocks also reported that Spence recently requested the contracted catchweight be increased from 158 pounds to 160 pounds, a change that was reportedly approved.

While there has been no indication that the fight is in danger, a delayed arrival would leave Spence with less time to acclimatize before fight week. Fighters often arrive several days early to adjust to the time difference, complete media obligations and finish the final stages of training before the weigh-in.

The travel issue isn’t the only logistical challenge surrounding the card. According to Cocks, Jermall Charlo has yet to receive approval for his Australian visa ahead of his scheduled undercard bout against Koen Mazoudier.

Charlo is set to make his second appearance since returning from a lengthy period of inactivity, but his travel plans remain dependent on receiving clearance to enter the country.

Neither issue has prompted any changes to the event, but both will be monitored closely as fight week approaches. The bout remains scheduled for July 25 in Sydney, with promoters expected to provide further updates if either travel issue affects fight-week plans.

Organizers will be hoping both issues are resolved quickly as fight week approaches, allowing the event to proceed as scheduled.
