Zuffa Boxing sends Valenzuela back in with the man who stopped him in three rounds in 2022
Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela will face Edwin De Los Santos in a June 28 rematch at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas after both fighters signed with Zuffa Boxing. The fight brings Valenzuela back against the same opponent who stopped him in three rounds in 2022.
The move fits the direction Zuffa has talked about since launching its boxing operation. Valenzuela has said his deal gives him the chance to fight three times a year with strong paydays and consistent exposure on Paramount+, which is very different from the slower schedules many fighters have complained about in recent years. The company has not revealed the exact terms of his contract, but Zuffa’s model has centered heavily on activity and difficult fights rather than slow-building records.
De Los Santos joined Zuffa Boxing in January 2026 and now steps straight into a main-event rematch with Valenzuela at Zuffa Boxing 08 on June 28 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
That makes this more than just another lightweight fight. For Valenzuela, it is a chance to prove the knockout loss was a temporary setback rather than a permanent ceiling against punchers at this level. For De Los Santos, it is an opportunity to show that the first result was no fluke and that he still holds a real edge over one of the company’s featured lightweights.
The first fight ended brutally. De Los Santos dropped Valenzuela twice before stopping him in the third round in what was viewed at the time as a major upset. Since then, Valenzuela has rebuilt his standing, but Zuffa is not giving him a slow path here. They are putting him right back in with the same dangerous opponent almost immediately after signing him.
That says a lot about how the company plans to match its fighters moving forward.
