Former two-division champion joins the Errol Spence Jr. vs. Tim Tszyu undercard in Australia as he seeks back-to-back appearances

Jermall Charlo will return to the ring on July 25 after being added to the undercard of Errol Spence Jr.’s fight against Tim Tszyu in Australia. The former two-division world champion has fought only once during the past three years, making activity the biggest question surrounding his comeback.

His most recent outing came in May 2025 when he stopped Thomas Lamanna in six rounds. The victory was expected, but it did little to answer larger questions about where Charlo stands among the top names in the sport after so much inactivity.

There was a time when Charlo appeared headed toward some of boxing’s biggest fights at middleweight and super middleweight. Long layoffs changed that conversation, leaving him on the outside while other contenders and champions moved ahead.

The July appearance gives Charlo another opportunity to stay active and begin putting together the kind of schedule that has been missing from his career. A second consecutive win would not erase years of inactivity, but it would at least move him closer to becoming a factor again.

Main Event’s announcement did not identify a potential opponent, though the promotional material suggested the possibility of Charlo facing an Australian fighter on the card.
