Inoue controls early rounds, responds late to secure decision in Tokyo main event

Naoya Inoue defeated Junto Nakatani by unanimous decision (116-112, 116-112, 115-113) over twelve rounds in Tokyo. He built an early lead, then responded in the closing rounds after Nakatani pushed late.

Inoue closed strong, taking the final rounds to secure a narrow but clear win in his toughest test to date.

Yoshiki Takei defeats DeKang Wang via majority decision. The last round tightened everything. Wang pressed forward and let his hands go, catching Takei with straight rights that knocked him off balance and forced him back. Takei kept moving, picked a few clean shots, though Wang’s pressure and right hand did the stronger work down the stretch.

Earlier, Takei found success with left hands to the head and body while Wang kept coming forward. That pressure left openings, and Takei took them, though every clean shot from Wang forced him to tie up and gather himself before going again. The juges scored the fight 76-76, 77-75, 77-75 for Takei.

Takuma Inoue (22-2, 5 KOs) retained his WBC bantamweight title with a wide unanimous decision over Kazuto Ioka (32-5-1, 17 KOs), controlling the fight from the opening round and never letting it slip.

He set the distance early with the jab and kept Ioka walking onto straight shots. A right hand and follow-up combination dropped Ioka at the end of the second, then a sharp uppercut on the inside put him down again in the third. From there, Inoue stayed disciplined, picking his spots and letting combinations go once he had the range.

Ioka kept trying to step in and work, digging to the body and throwing in bursts, though he struggled to get past the lead hand. Inoue’s timing, hand speed, and shot selection kept him a step ahead through the middle rounds.

By the later rounds, Ioka had slowed and was taking clean shots at distance and on the inside. Inoue closed strong, rocking him with a right hand and left hook in the twelfth, sealing a dominant performance on scores of 120-106, 119-107, and 118-108.

Jin Sasaki edged Sora Tanaka over ten rounds by split decision, 97-93, 96-94, 94-96, to pick up the OPBF title in the final preliminary fight.
