Snoop Dogg wants Terence Crawford and Errol Spence to ‘Lock up’

Snoop Dogg says he wants to see welterweight champions Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr fight while they’re still young and in their prime. He says that many fighters wait until they’re past their prime before fighting, and then boxing fans don’t want to see them.

Snoops says they can have two or even three fights, and that way, it would be entertaining for the fans. Unfortunately, WBO welterweight champion Crawford (37-0, 28 KOs) and IBF/WBC champion Spence (27-0, 21 KOs) are a million miles away from fighting each other.

Crawford, 33, has pretty much given up on ever fighting Spence. Instead, Crawford is hopelessly waiting to see if his promoters at Top Rank can set up a fight against Manny Pacquiao, which has very little chance of happening.

It’s fair to say that Crawford will need to turn to Spence soon if he wants to get the mega-fight while he still has time left in his career.

“I would love to see those two fight because I feel like that’s what I was talking about with somebody that you got two great champions, and they’re not fighting each other,” said Snoop Dogg to Fighthype about Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford.

“It’s always like that in boxing. You always got intricate things going on that stops the fighters from fighting each other. Then they get old and then you don’t want to see them.

“When they’re young, in their prime, and fresh, make them lock up. If you lose, you get a second fight. Even in the second fight, you lose; there’s a third fight.

It’s a rematch, trilogy, and all of the above. That’s what great fighters do; they mix it up,” said Snoop.

It’s easy for Snoop to say that Crawford and Spence should fight each other, but this is boxing. There’s so much emphasis on fighting, building an unbeaten record, and protecting it like Fort Knox by avoiding facing opposition that could wreck it.

Lately, we’ve seen Crawford dismiss the idea of fighting Spence and Vergil Ortiz Jr, making it clear that he’s just going to coast to his retirement while milking his WBO 147-lb title against the contenders they rank.

Spence deserves to be the A-side, but I don’t think Crawford would fight him now even if he were offered a 50-50 split. Terence said as much this week when interviewed by DAZN, stating, “I don’t care anymore.”

The fighters in Snoop’s era would ‘Lock up’

“I come from the era of Hearns, Hagler, Ali, Frazier, Sugar Ray Leonard,” said Snoop Dogg. “You know what I’m saying? That was when fighters got down. There are no in-between. We’re going to lock up.

“I don’t know because it’s going to be a great fight,” said Snoop when asked who will win the Crawford vs. Spence fight. “It’s going to be a style type of fight.

“Errol has got a little bit of height on him, but Crawford has got such extensive skills. I would just love to see the two fight because I’m a fan of both of them,” said Snoop.

When Ali, Fraizer, Leonard, and Hagler fought, there was fewer start than there is now. It was harder to avoid fighting the best back then.

Nowadays, with the multiple sanctioning bodies and the fact that fighters compete on different networks for different promotional companies that don’t work together, it makes things nearly impossible to set up important fights.

So instead of getting great fights like Spence vs. Crawford, you see Terence facing Kell Brook, Amir Khan, Jeff Horn, and Egidijus Kavaliauskas.
