Emiliano Vargas, Ben Whittaker Added to June 27 Ennis vs Zayas Card

Vargas faces Bryce Mills in co-main, Whittaker meets Richard Rivera in U.S. debut with WBC Silver belt on the line

Emiliano Vargas (17-0, 14 KOs) and Ben Whittaker (11-0-1, 8 KOs) take title fights on June 27 at Barclays Center, each stepping into a real test on a DAZN pay-per-view card led by Xander Zayas and Jaron Ennis. Vargas meets Bryce Mills for three regional belts, while Whittaker faces Richard Rivera for the WBC Silver title at light heavyweight.

Vargas gets the co-main slot and does not get a soft route. Mills (22-1, 9 KOs) has already fought twice this year and comes in sharp, defending the belt he picked up with a fourth-round stoppage in February and backed up with another early finish in April. He stays busy, throws in combinations, and does not wait around.

Vargas has been active as well, forcing Agustin Quintana to retire after nine rounds in his last outing. He works with speed and keeps his offense flowing once he has his distance set. This fight asks a simple question. Can he hold that pace against a man who is already in mid-season form.

“I have had an incredible start to the year, and I have no intention of slowing down,” Vargas said. “On June 27 at Barclays Center, I will step onto the biggest stage of my career on DAZN PPV, ready to seize this opportunity and make it clear to every champion in the division: ‘El General’ is coming! ¡Vengo por todo!”

Whittaker makes his U.S. debut with a title on the line straight away. Rivera (27-2, 20 KOs) is not there to play a part. He has been in with experienced opposition and carries power that can change a fight early. He also has a recent first-round knockout, so he will try to test Whittaker before the fight settles.

Whittaker has built momentum with back-to-back first-round knockouts.

“I am really excited to make my American debut in the Big Apple on such a big card,” Whittaker said.

Rivera kept it direct. “If Ben thinks he is going to my backyard to make a statement, history will repeat itself. I’m not gonna need a can of spinach for this fight.”

The WBC Silver belt is on the line for Whittaker, while Vargas fights for WBC USA Silver, WBO Latino, and NABF titles, all pushing both men toward sanctioning body rankings in their divisions.
