Social media post indicates deal reached as Adames moves up to face IBF super middleweight champion
Carlos Adames says a fight with Osleys Iglesias is agreed after posting that negotiations are complete. The matchup would move Adames to 168 pounds to face the IBF champion.
Adames wrote in Spanish that they had already called him and that “we’re in a fight,” before adding that he hoped his opponent would not back out. He also said he was getting the fire extinguishers ready to put out the fire, an obvious answer to recent comments from IBF super middleweight champion Osleys Iglesias.
The two fighters have traded words in recent days after Adames made clear he wants to move up from middleweight and pursue major fights at super middleweight. Iglesias had answered by mocking Adames and warning him about the danger waiting at 168 pounds.
Adames has been one of the steadier names at middleweight and recently defended his position with another strong win. Instead of staying at 160, he appears ready to chase the deeper money fights available one division higher.
For Iglesias, this would be the type of fight he has been asking for. He has built momentum through an unbeaten run, heavy-handed performances, and repeated calls for bigger opponents. A meeting with Adames would give him a recognized champion and a chance to strengthen his standing in the division.
If the fight is finalized, it would stand out immediately because Adames would be taking a risky first step in a new weight class rather than easing in with a softer option. Fighters usually make that move only when they trust their level.
