Canelo acknowledged interest in fighting Crawford again as speculation around the retired champion’s future continues

Canelo Alvarez says he hopes a rematch with Terence Crawford eventually happens after renewed discussion surrounding Crawford’s repeated appearances at major boxing events. The Mexican star acknowledged interest in the fight while speaking with Mr. Verzace during an interview centered largely around Jake Paul and Riyadh Season boxing.

However, Verzace eventually steered the discussion toward Crawford, who has frequently appeared around major Riyadh Season cards and high-profile boxing events over the last year.

“Every event I go to, Terence Crawford seems to be up there ringside. You as a fighter, do you think he’s eventually going to get that itch?” said Mr. Verzace on his podcast for The Ring.

“I don’t know. I’m not in his shoes,” said Canelo Alvarez.

“Because the boss [Turki Alalshikh] wants to see it again. You know that,” Verzace continued.

“I know. I know. I hope that fight happen again. That’s what I hope, and I think it’ll be amazing for fans, too, right? For everybody, it’s a big fight. I hope that fight happen again, and I have my rematch,” said Canelo.

Terence Crawford has continued appearing ringside at major events, fueling speculation that he is waiting for another major-money fight against Canelo or another elite opponent.

Canelo did not spend long discussing Crawford, but he still acknowledged interest once the subject was brought directly to him by Verzace, keeping one of boxing’s biggest possible fights alive.
