Agit Kabayel Faces Nelson Hysa in Questionable Defense

Boxing 24/7 Wire - 10/01/2026 - Comments

Agit Kabayel will defend his WBC heavyweight title against Nelson Hysa on November 28 at Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany, live on DAZN. The confirmed matchup looks heavily tilted toward Kabayel, with Hysa receiving a championship opportunity before proving himself against leading contenders.

Hysa’s 25–0 record with 23 knockouts gives the promotion attractive numbers to work with. However, the Albanian is 42 and only turned professional in May 2022. Four years of stopping modest opposition offers little evidence that he is ready for this level.

His recent opponents include Thomas Narmo, Abel Pesut, Patrick Korte and Edwin Castillo. Several brought unbeaten records themselves, but none provided the established world-level test that would make Hysa an appealing title challenger. Beating another undefeated fighter means considerably less when that opponent has also avoided the division’s strongest competition.

The concern is what happens when Hysa’s early knockout routine stops working. Against Kabayel, he could have to absorb sustained pressure, protect his body, and maintain his offense while being forced backward. His professional record has yet to demonstrate that he can handle those demands against a leading heavyweight.

Recent reporting also describes Hysa as unranked by the WBC. That raises another question about his selection, although any subsequent ranking changes would need to be checked. Adding his name to a list would not improve the opposition he has beaten.

For Kabayel, a home stadium defense offers a chance to build his German audience. Commercially, the attraction is understandable. Competitively, Hysa looks like an opponent whose knockout percentage is doing more promotional work than his résumé.

Hysa could possess genuine power, but landing it against Kabayel is a different proposition from overwhelming the opponents he has faced so far. This has the appearance of a mismatch, and an emphatic Kabayel victory would tell us relatively little about how the champion compares with the heavyweight division’s best.
