Phil Williams Signs on to Fight Donovan George of Chicago

Super middleweight Phil Williams has signed on to do battle with Donovan George at the UIC Pavillion in Chicago on January 29.

Williams is coming off a split decision loss to Matt Vanda in a Minnesota grudge match November13. Although Williams did not come out with the win he did look impressive in his first ten round affair, and states that he feels he could have gone several more rounds.

For the 18-0 George the fight is a major step up as Williams( 11-2) will be the best opponent statistically he has faced thus far.

Williams who has gained notoriety in Minnesota for his one punch power will be traveling out of Minnesota for only the third time in his career but will be accompanied by new trainer Jacque Davis, a man he credits for instilling several new facets to his offense.

Williams-George is scheduled for January 29 at the UIC Pavillion and ticket information will be available at http://www.uicpavilion.com

Warner Promotions signs top Jr. Welterweight boxing prospect Dante Moore

Moore to headline Warner Promotions debut boxing event on Jan. 29th at the legendary Gray’s Armory in downtown Cleveland
Cleveland, Ohio – December 28, 2009 – Warner Promotions, a newly formed boxing promotional company based out of Cleveland, Ohio, announced that it has signed former USA Boxing Junior Olympic National Champion and current professional Junior Welterweight prospect Dante Moore to a promotional contract. Moore, currently 6-0, with 4 knockouts, will make his debut for Warner Promotions on Friday, January 29th at the Legendary Cleveland Gray’s Armory in downtown Cleveland.

Moore is coming off of a 4 round decision over the formerly undefeated Nathan Kempa in Mississippi in October. He is scheduled to headline his first 6 round bout on January 29th against an opponent to be determined. He is trained locally at the Old School Boxing club by standout trainer Joe Delguyd and his father Darrell Moore.

Warner Promotions President, Antonio Castro, feels that signing a boxer the caliber of Dante Moore will put the promotional company on the map and will jump start boxing in the Cleveland area. “Here’s a young man from Cleveland, who’s just 20 years old, and will be a future World Champion,” predicted Castro. “Not only does he have all the tools to become a World Champion inside the ring, but he is also a very high character individual that carries himself very well outside of the ring. That’s just as important to us as a startup company.”

Cleveland has been a hot bed for amateur boxing in the last 10 years. Cleveland, along with Cincinnati, are the only cities to have had a representative for Team USA going into the 2004 and 2008 Olympic games. “With all of the talent that is here in our city, there’s no reason why Warner Promotions will not be successful,” Castro said. “We are going to be signing more talented local boxers in the future and it is our goal to build a fourth franchise here in Cleveland to go along with the Cavaliers, Browns, and Indians.”
